About this deal

Below the keyboard sits a touchpad that’s big enough and works great. Multitouch gestures work fine. So, while the keyboard cover is not perfect, it’s a good one overall. Battery Life Overall, it’s a very good display. It’s fully laminated, the touchscreen reacts well, it’s bright, and I was able to work with it outside comfortably. Sure, a 120Hz screen would be better than 60Hz, but the only Windows tablet that supports 120Hz is the Surface Pro 8 at the moment. The speakers are fine for Netflix and YouTube. You can watch a couple of videos or even a movie just fine. But sure, the sound quality is not amazing and very far from an iPad Pro or so. The position of the speakers is not great because it’s on the lower end of the sides. That means when holding the tablet while watching something, you easily cover the speakers. Xiaomi Smart Pen Oh, and it's not just a notebook. Your documents sync to the cloud so you can read them on iPhones, iPads, PCs, Macs and Android. The reMarkable 2 also translates your handwriting to editable text, so you can share your notes with your whole team, or turn your draft ideas into a manuscript. And its two weeks of battery life means you can just leave it on your coffee table, for when inspiration strikes, rather than keep it plugged in all the time. Having said that, the availability of a wide range of options can make the selection process quite challenging. So, what should you do? First things first, breathe a sigh of relief!

The stylus is not perfect, however. Since we get a 60Hz screen only, it sometimes looks like the writing is lagging behind the pen a bit. Especially once you compare it to a 120Hz tablet like the Surface Pro 8 or iPad Pro. But that’s always the case with 60Hz displays. Hardware & Performance Ensure that the unit you buy comes with a rubber base to ensure maximum stability for a comfortable hands-free experience. A wobbly arm will compromise its overall functionality, which, in turn, may disrupt productivity. This is something no digital artist, student, or worker can afford. InstallationBy now, you must know that the primary function of this accessory is holding and elevating your tablet for versatile viewing and a comfortable work experience. Hence, ensure that the positioning screws of the mount arms are easy to adjust. You should be able to adjust the height, tilt, or rotate the unit conveniently as and when required. Build Quality If you grab yourself a Surface Slim Pen 2, the Surface Pro 9 5G will support its unique haptic features too, so you'll be able to feel subtle bumps and scratches as you write on the screen. Pretty neat! Microphone quality is also good, and I had no complaints from anyone listening to me in audio calls for example. The real let down comes in the form of audio quality, which is, frankly, abysmal.

On the front, we get a webcam that you can use to record FullHD videos. The quality is fine, especially for video chats. Next to it sits a sensor for facial recognition which Xiaomi just like Apple calls Face ID. Together with Windows Hello, it works great. By the way, there is one big advantage that all Windows tablets including this one have compared to Android devices. Since updates are delivered by Microsoft and not by the manufacturer, every Windows tablet usually will be much longer up-to-date with software than any Android device is. That was always an advantage of Windows that I should point out more. Keyboard Cover Apps that customize the Windows experience might have problems. This includes some input method editors (IMEs), assistive technologies, and cloud storage apps. The organization that develops the app determines whether their app will work on a Windows 10 ARM-based PC.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is virtually the same as the Microsoft Surface Pro 8. We don’t have a problem with iterative releases, but we hoped Microsoft would do something to make the latest edition of their flagship Windows 112-in-1 more appealing. Sadly, that isn’t the case.

In October 2022, Apple released the iPad Pro 2022, which upgrades the processor to the more powerful M2 chip. It's a great tablet with solid performance, but only a nominal upgrade over the 2021 version. When you’re multitasking a lot and especially when x86 programs are among them, the tablet can lag quite heavily. For instance, when watching a YouTube video in Chrome, using Edge, Office, and Word at the same time and also having Lightroom open, and then when switching between them, there can be quite some lag. With an Android tablet or iPad, you usually won’t be using that many apps at the same time but you certainly would with a desktop PC. The best thing about the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is its design. It's an excellent looking tablet, with a crisp 3K 13-inch touchscreen display panel that also supports pen, and a high-quality metal chassis that's cold to the touch. The pen magnetically attaches to the side of the device when not in use, and there's also two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports.I think for most the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is the better choice. It has a premium build, works with an active pen too, has a better 120Hz screen, and supports a fantastic keyboard cover. Here we do get a normal Intel chipset with normal Windows 11 that also runs old Windows apps. By the way, I think the Surface Pro X is not a great choice for most just like the Xiaomi Book. Battery life is also very good in day-to-day usage. Our battery test ran for 9 hours and 24 minutes before the device shut itself off, which was at around 5% battery life remaining. 9 hours on the test is great, beating the likes of the Dell XPS 13 OLED, Surface Pro 9, and others. Ports include two USB-C and one Surface Connect port for fast charging. It also has an upgradable SSD, so if you ever need to swap out your drive for a new one, you can do just that without having to break open the entire device to do so. Battery life is pretty good, with usage lasting around 7-8 hours on a single charge. Thanks to the ARM processor, it consumes little power when you put it to sleep. So it should get you through a day just fine. If you're a writer who loves pen and paper, you know that the iPad and its Apple Pencil don't really feel right. That's where the reMarkable tablets have jumped into the fray, offering a real-feeling writing experience, with a unique screen technology that uses digital paper and the Marker stylus, which feels more authentic when you press its nib against the screen. The reMarkable 2, however, is a much more seductive device, now measuring a sleek 0.2 inches and ditching its plastic frame for a sleeker metallic chassis.

Around the front, we have a glorious 12.6-inch 2K AMOLED display which looks phenomenal. Colors simply pop on this screen thanks to OLED technology, and he higher 2560x1600 resolution at this screen size means you can’t distinguish between pixels at a regular usage distance. Plus, Windows renders natively at 200% here which means text and icons look amazing. SSD speeds are good, coming in at2,685MB/s for write and 3,037MB/s for read speeds. It's up there with other high-end devices, including the Surface Pro 9, LG Gram 17, and Lenovo Yoga 7i. You won't have complaints about the SSD, which to my knowledge is user upgradable. Well, apart from this, the unit is sturdy enough to withstand the pressure and weight of your device. And this is why you can place it on the edge of your desk without having to worry about stability. I also just want to emphasize just how thin this device is. For a full Windows computer, it doesn't seem real. This is the magic of ARM processors in Windows PCs, it enables thin and fanless designs you just won't find on an Intel or AMD device.Purpose: Consider what you’ll primarily be using your tablet stand for. Certain stands are better for drawing and digital art, while others are better for video conferencing. Which tablet holder you choose will depend on what you’re planning on doing with it. Let’s get to the ARM processor. Inside the Xiaomi Book S sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Unlike the Surface Pro X, you cannot exchange the SSD yourself. And again unlike the Pro X, there is no version with LTE or 5G which is a bit disappointing. Adjustability: Consider the viewing angles you’re going to need. Do you need to just prop your tablet up? Do you need height and angle adjustment? These are questions you’ll want to ask yourself. Its squashability means you can angle the tablet’s screen as you want it, although it will move around a bit if it’s resting on you and you move about. It adds a little height and you can knead the bean bag into different angles.
