About this deal

Outfoxed!, designed and published by the team at Gamewright Games, is a 1-4 player co-operative whodunit aimed at families with younger children. Aside from looking pretty fun and offering a nod to the game’s deductive approach, the pieces are made of fairly hard, good quality plastic and feel pretty solid in-hand, so we feel they should stand up to regular use without chipping or damage.

If all three dice show the icons that match your choice by your third roll, take one of the following actions: Use the clue decoder to find out if the clues point to the guilty fox. Once you have found enough clues, it’s time to reveal who you think the thief is. Scatter the 16 Suspect cards face down around the perimeter of the board (4 per side) and then choose any 2 to turn face up. The decoder will reveal a green dot should the clue card match the suspect and a white dot should it not. At the same time, it is important to note that there really isn’t a hard upper limit to the game, in our opinion. If the name matches, Otherwise, the guilty fox dashes to the foxhole and escapes from your clutches. Including 16 thief/suspect cards, 12 clue tokens, four detective hat pawns, a thief miniature, game board and a unique ‘clue decoder’ - Outfoxed! contains all you need to help find Mrs Plumpert's prized pie. More than that, the game does a good job at helping kids hone their sequential and logical thinking skills as they apply deductive reasoning to unmask the game’s thief and win. The scanner comes with an extendable arm that can be pulled out when a clue marker is inserted to reveal a green or white dot. In Outfoxed!, a 2-4 player co-operative whodunit game, players are searching for clues and revealing suspects in the mystery of who stole Mrs Plumpert’s prized pot pie. No less than 16 suspicious looking foxes were seen in the vicinity of the crime and it’s up to us to find the guilty party before he, or she, escapes down the foxhole.

As you work together to try and nab the guilty fox, you’ll learn some valuable skills such as estimating probability and paying attention to details, as well as the important role that collaboration plays towards problem-solving. Outfoxed is about average in terms of price for a board game, yet we feel it can certainly deliver a good deal of value for families.

In addition to the Clue Decoder, there is a game board and a range of tokens, cards and pawns in Outfoxed! There is even a fox miniature wearing - presumably to accentuate its guilt - a top hat. All of these components are good quality and visually this is a very appealing game.

Suitable for 2-4 players aged 6 and above with a playing time of around 20 minutes – Happy sleuthing! This piece represents the ultimate goal of the game, i.e. the thief that players must unmask, and is intended to “move” across the board to escape justice as the game goes on, which is kind of a fun mechanic. Dice Use your memory to remember whether or not those items were marked "red" or "green" in the Clue decoder. With a story involving a stolen pot pie, detective hat pieces and a colorful line up of illustrated anthropomorphic fox suspects to go through (and accuse), Outfoxed can be a very whimsical and amusing game that can capture the imagination of kids and parents alike. Good way to practice logic and deductive reasoning Now, if said prized pot pie was left on the windowsill next to an open window…well, that’s just asking for trouble. Someone Stole My Pie! The game ends once players either identify the thief or when the thief makes its way to the end of the board. Pros and Cons Pros Fun to Play On your turn, take the three dice and, before rolling, say out loud whether you "Search (or Clues" or "Reveal Suspects'. II you choose Search for Clues, you wan to roll all three dice to show footprint symbols. If you chose Reveal Suspects, you want all three dice to show eye symbols. It's great indoors on rainy doors, or outdoors when it's time for a fresh air break. Just be warned that the stepping stones are lightweight foam, so it's not ideal for a windy day (or underneath heavy boots). The other potential challenge is when your gaming space is on the smaller side, but you can adjust accordingly when setting up. Kids of all ages (and their grown-ups) will likely enjoy getting their wiggles out as they play.

Work together as a team of detectives, gathering clues and eliminating possible suspects. Figure out who is the guilty fox before it escapes. Search for clues – the dice have shown three fox paws. These lead you to a range of clues. Is the thief wearing gloves? Maybe the thief uses a monocle and is carrying an umbrella. There are 12 clues to find but not all will help your investigation. Some clues are red herrings! Outfoxed is a colorful, fun and kid-friendly whodunit in the style of Clue, meaning it can be a great way for fans of the genre to introduce it to their children. Families who want to promote logical thinking and reasoning In addition to the detective pieces, the game also comes with a red “thief” statue in the shape of a rather dapper-looking fox. It's always an excellent service with brilliant products at a very competitive price - will use again! Some board games are designed for a maximum number of players and can’t be played with large groups. Some board games are designed to be played by eight to 10 players, and others are open-ended, with no limit to how many people can play. For large groups of kids, look for board games with higher player designations, such as Apples to Apples or Telestrations, or board games that use teams, such as Pictionary Junior.
