About this deal

If you’re an aquarist who is looking for an impressive amount ofmedia capacity, this is the choice for you. The visual appeal The Fluval FX6 has enough room for not just activated carbon but specialty media like their silicate, nitrate, or ammonia-absorbing resins that can target specific water quality issues. Rubberized Footing & Quiet Motor The Fluval FX series Filter comes with a unique feature of ‘Purge valve‘ also called as the ‘ Utility valve‘ which comes in handy to avoid a mess. The instructions inside are so easy that even a child could set this filter up. So you don’t have to worry about getting some half baked instructions and having to scour the internet for an hour trying to figure out what to do. One great feature the Fx6 has is its adjustable water flow. If you’re housing fish that don’t like strong water flows (such as bettas) you’ll be pleased to see this too.

I love all of the huge, reusable mechanical filter media that comes with this filter. There are several different sponges, of different coarseness levels, throughout the baskets. In my opinion, there is no need to add disposable filter floss to this setup. To protect the filter from damage, a safety feature is included that would turn off the motor whenever impeller is impeded. The Fluval FX6 doesn’t just do an excellent job at filtering; it’s also silent while at it. It’s so quiet that even to notice it, you have to be pretty close. It achieves this by using fewer mechanical joints on unidirectional impellers, making it the perfect choice for anyone who gets annoyed at different noises. Just as with all FX Filters the FX6 comes as a host of user-friendly features that make the FX aquarium filter range a breeze when it comes to installation and maintenance. If you’ve never set up a canister filter before then it may seem daunting. However, once you open the box and look inside, you’ll realize that setting it up is incredibly easy (thanks in part to the self-priming system).Reporting Breakages: Any breakages or damages must be reported to the store within 48 hours of receiving the goods. It is important to promptly notify the store to initiate the resolution process. Plus, they’re cheap and widely available. I got mine from one of the big chain stores for a whopping 20¢ a piece.

On the exterior of each basket will be foam that will function as mechanical filtration, which eliminates the big debris before it reaches the biological and chemical media. Excluding postcodes below inScottish Highlands and islands, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Isle of Scilly: (Currently we do not deliver to Northern Ireland) The same handles that let you pull out the baskets also serve to hold all the baskets together. Once you’ve got them out, you just pop off the handles so you can separate the baskets.

Should you use the media that comes with the Fluval FX6?

Normally to prime a tank, you’ll have to pour water from the tank into the filter until it’s full up and ready to begin circulating. Or you can also try siphoning it into the filter. Either method can often end up with a lot of water all over the floor.

After passing through the foam, the water will pass through the biological media and finally the chemical media. Remember that the filter media will last longer when maintaining the chemical media at the bottom of the filter if you intend on adding new filter media. Works With Up To 400-Gallon Tanks TheFX6 is the high-capacity workhorse of Fluval’s canister lineup, enhanced with all the power and reliability you’ve come to expect from a high-performance filter. Even if eventually you downgrade or upgrade to another tank, you’ll be safe with the Fluval FX6 since it works great on all medium to large sizes of tanks. Features & Benefits of Fluval FX6With that being said we have already established that the water will move from the top tray to the bottle one. This means that we will add our mechanical filtration to the top tray and then biological and chemical filtration to the lower set of trays.

The FX5 is more power hungry when compared to the FX6 as it uses 50 watts at 120V/60Hz as well as 48 watts at 230-240V/50Hz. In comparison, the FX6 uses 43 watts at 120V/60Hz in addition to 41 watts at 230-240V/50Hz. Included Filter Medias For the size of this filter, you’d expect it to be fairly loud. However, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. While it’s not silent (and smaller filters are quieter) it’s still exceptionally quiet. There has been some confusion in the aquarium community about the trueGPHof the FX6. That comes from a slight disconnect between the numbers you see on the box, and the practical in-useGPHwhen you have everything set up. The filter also features an incredible 400 gallon rating making it a no-brainier for anyone looking into keeping moderately sized tanks. It should be noted however that while it may be technically rated to work for a large 400 gallon tank, it would only circulate the water in a tank of that size once every hour, and that is a very sub-optimal cycle rate.Well in this case we must agree with the masses they love the Fluval FX6 External Filter. We must add however that the FX6 is robust and we have lots of faith in it. Just do a little research it wins by miles. So, if you’re in the market for a good bit of kit to take care of a large job then here it is. What’s it got? It has power, value, much love and does the job. What’s it not got well it’s not pretty, but do we care? No. With the filter being so large it has a huge media area that gives all the space you could want for media of your choice. Quality Fluval media included with the canister filter . The Fluval FX4 has a pump output of 700 gallons (or 2,650 liters) per hour. Both the FX5 and FX6 have a pump output of 925 gallons (or 3,500 liters). Foam Surface Area Also, remember that the design of the FX6 unit also speeds up weekly and monthly water changes and other maintenance needs. While large the Fluval FX6 ensures as stress-free an aquarium experience as possible for aquarists with the biggest tanks! Trying to get the SunSun to prime nearly robbed me of my sanity. Priming the FX6 was so much nicer.
