Switching between carpet and had floors is very easy thanks to the DuoClean brushrolls, which switch over with the touch of a button. It's also possible to go between three power levels, although we found the lowest level perfectly strong enough for the majority of tasks. Shark vacuums are often on sale but that doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a good deal - some 'before' prices are dubious, as you'll almost always find it at a cheaper price. It delivered pretty consistent results on the flooring, leaving carpet – including on the stairs – tiles, and parquet clean. The DuoClean floorhead had a big part to play in this as it can easily transition across the various floor types, on which its twin bristle brushes work their magic. Anti Hair Wrap – a feature designed to stop hair accumulating around the brush roll – had some impressive results, too. I put the Shark IZ320UKT through my raw performance tests, measuring suction power in airwatts (AW), which uses a combination of airflow and suction. On Eco power, the vacuum runs at a basic 37.33AW, moving to 61.40AW on standard, which is about average for cordless cleaners. On Boost mode, the vacuum manages a huge 199.79AW; few cordless vacuum cleaners are this powerful, bar the Dyson V15 Detect, which manages an even higher 280.93AW. Fully extended, its dimensions are 260 x 245 x 1,180mm (WDH), and there’s a hinge in the middle of the extension wand that lets it fold down to 690mm in height for storage or be used for cleaning under low furniture. It’s quite heavy at 4.58kg, but this is evenly distributed between the floor head at the bottom and the handheld unit at the top of the vacuum.

Generally speaking, it's easier to clean hard floors than carpet, which is where this vacuum really takes the cake. It was good on tiles in the kitchen though, and I found it easy to navigate thanks to the sturdy handle and flexible brush head. One of the attachments which comes with this Shark vacuum is the pet tool. As with many of the best vacuum cleaners for pet hair, it's was excellent at drawing out embedded hair from rugs, blankets and anywhere else your four-legged-friend likes to reside.
