it is obvious that this is a story of a woman… but there are many such similar criticisms related to same scenarios…… living with death threat is one of them…. It was a bit of a slug to get through at the beginning before you got into her plans and attempts to escape.After all, by all accounts, Said Mahmoody was clear, on multiple occasions, that he would find and kill her when or if she tried to escape, but not before he ensured that his daughter would be raised in a misogynistic war zone wherein she would be subject to abuse and compelled to renounce her faith, her way of life, and her place of birth. I understand she was angry and frustrated and had been through a lot; it probably would have been a better book had she given it some space for perspective. Those who help her are vaguely described to protect their identities so it’s hard to connect with them.
