Chain lengths overall are also nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerance as well as being potentially up to a link over- or under-length, relative to the descriptive length assigned. This is because a whole number of links will invariably not be an exact number of metres or half-metres overall, for example.

Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) is the minimum force of which the chain must withstand before failure. The mean stress at this load is 800n/mm2 (MPA). The minimum elongation before failure is 20%. x 6 Pin tumbler cylinder – over 250,000 differs on “same key” and over 1,000,000 differs on “keyed differ”

About

These high grade Protector 16mm, 19mm, 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan chains really are impossible to bolt-crop by hand. The thieves use Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice. They are expensive, but of course they don't always buy them... The Protector 16mm and 19mm and 22mm and 25mm chains are all impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. Video: Help on choosing the right chain: Protector Range Overview In the case of multi-leg slings the angle between the legs should not be less than 30° or exceed the maximum marked. Do not attempt lifting operations unless you understand the use of the equipment, the slinging procedures and the mode factors to be applied.Note: The chain fittings show above are the more popular hooks and leg length adjusters types. Chain sling assemblies can be supplied with alternative fittings in Grade 8, Grade 10 or Grade 12 to suit your requirements... Available in sizes 0.8 to 6.0m, we’ve tested the 1.5m Pragmasis 16mm chain, which comes with a tough fabric sleeve, zip-tied at both ends, to protect your bike. These sleeves do hold water if used in the rain, so carry a plastic bag if you need to transport it. Position hooks of multi-leg slings facing outward from the load. Do not lift on the point of the hook and ensure that the chain is not twisted or knotted. Overall chain lengths are also nominal, being subject to manufacturing tolerance as well as being potentially up to one link over or under the advertised length, because a whole number of links will invariably not be an exact number of metres or half-metres overall. But you should expect a police force to take the full details of when and where the crime occurred, because it’s this intelligence gathering that can –eventually – lead to convictions.

One of the best tips is to park your bike in a reasonably busy place if you can and ensure it’s always covered. A thief wants a weedy chain on an expensive bike that’s parked out of the way. Your job is to deter them as much as possible and that means slowing them down and pitching their surroundings against them. The Protector 16mm, 19mm and 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan are the highest-approved chains on the market, being the only ones that have Sold Secure Caravan Gold as well as Motorcycle/ATV/Motor Scooter/Bicycle/Commercial Vehicles & Plant/Car & Van, plus Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond for the 22mm & 25mm TItan chains. Manufacturing Proof Force (MPF) is the force to which during manufacture the chain is subjected to. The mean stress at this load is 500n/mm2 (MPA) which is 2.5 times the working load limit. We bought some chains for our Freelander when it was new six years ago and we didn't know better and have never ONCE even thought about using them. We did 70,000m on the OE Michelins and have replaced them recently with some excellent Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres which are suitable for year round use no probs. Further information is given in: ** HSE Guidance Note PM 39 - Hydrogen Embrittlement of Grade T Chain .* The Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment, published by: LEEA GENERAL PURPOSE SLINGING PRACTICE Protector chains are top of the tree according to Bennetts Insurance. Bennetts have done a lot of chain testing across many manufacturers and have created their own league table that shows how numerous products compare: Minimum Breaking Load (M.B.L.) is the minimum force which chain or components must withstand before failure. The Protector 19mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 138 x 63mm outside; 100 x 25mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 19mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 65 x 44mm, but that would be a tight fit and a little more space will make it easier to feed through. All but the end links are surrounded with a protective fabric sleeve (again, to protect your bike/other valuables; not to protect the chain!). The sleeve is usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above).Thieves frequently use enormous, heavy duty Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice, but our Protector 16mm chains have proven impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. In fact, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! Slings should only be used by trained operatives who understand the methods of rating and application of mode factors.**** Safe use of Slings Single Leg Chains, 2 Leg Chains, 3 Leg and 4 Leg Chain slings at any length to suit your application with a shortening clutch fitted for leg length adjustment
