Preparing your leather is an important step that frequently gets overlooked. So, what does leather prep look like?

Unlike other dyes ours has a built-in seal ant m eaning it will recolour and protect your leather without the need to apply anything else . With 29 colours to choose from in 4 assorted sizes, t he o nly limi t is your imagination, allowing you to transform or renew . Cover anything from minor scratches to a complete recolour whilst keeping your leather’s texture . Allow for plenty of drying time between layers before applying additional coats of paint. Rushing can leave streaks or patches of uneven color. Even though it may feel dry, the paint under the top layer may still be setting up. Remove anything that comes off of your leather piece if don’t want to paint it. For example, if your leather couch has legs that you can remove, take them off before you begin. If you’re painting shoes that have laces or anything else that’s not permanently attached, remove them! (You can paint laces, too, if you want, but not while they’re in the shoes.) 2. Clean Your Object, if it Has Visible Dirt If your painted leather will be out in the rain or snow, use a water proofer, like Scotchguard or Mod Podge Outdoor to protect it from the elements. The finishers are water resistant. Newspapers or a Drop Cloth Polyurethane paint can be used neat but can also be thinned with water so that you can apply them onto leather with an airbrush, allowing you to add more depth and a range of patterns to your designs.Once applied, leave the Leather Paint to dry naturally or dry it instantly with a hairdryer. 3 - Finishing after using Leather Paint If you want to keep paint off a certain part of whatever you’re painting, you can use masking tape to protect that part. If you’re painting shoes, for example, and don’t want to paint the soles, you can place tape over the sole where it meets the upper. Shoe Cream or Polish (if you’re painting shoes) Safe to use - Both types of leather paint tend to be water based and non-toxic, making them safe to use in all environments. As beautiful and luxurious as leather goods are, even nature needs a helping hand. Over time, leather can begin to look faded and worn. Staining can ruin its appearance, or the colour loses its vibrancy. The Leather Paint can also be sprayed onto leather. You need to prepare the leather in the same way as instructed above. You can also use Fiebing’s Acrylic Resolene, should you already have it in your tool box! Again, apply it in thin even coats. Appearance - Acrylic and polyurethane paint have very similar finishes. They offer a soft, delicate and natural look when applied to the surface of the leather. A. You’ll probably want something underneath whatever you are painting to protect the surface. Newspapers or brown paper shopping bags work well under small projects like shoes. Drop cloths are great for bigger projects. Painter’s Masking Tape (optional) Please first try out the paint on an inconspicuous place, to test whether you get the desired result. Shake your paint well to mix it. Paint settles as it sits, separating the binders and pigments. Not mixing or improperly mixing means the paint may not go on evenly and may even form a weak bond with the leather leading to scratches and chips. Apply Water Proofing (if desired)

Allow the dye plenty of time to dry before applying paint on top of it. Be sure to buff any excess pigment before your paint application as well. After you apply the finisher, let it dry for 24 hours before using your painted leather or going on to any next steps. 2. For Shoes A. Yes, it can also be used as a leather sofa paint.
