About this deal

is the jewel in Wadworth’s crown. Our most popular beer, the one which made us famous, and the beer that has won numerous medals in a variety of awards. It has been in production for nearly 100 years and we still use the original recipe Having put blood, sweat and tears into cultivating his malting barley, Jeremy was determined that it be put to good use, so resolved to supply it directly to a local brewery to turn into lager. Available by bottle, can, mini keg, cask or keg all year round, 6X is mid-brown in colour, malty and fruity on the nose with a balancing hoppy note. The delicious malt and fruit character emerge even more intensely on the palate with a long, lingering and malty finish. The "X" in 6X refers to a traditional grading system for strong beer; it was first brewed in 1923. [5] In 2007, 6X won the Daily Telegraph and Cask Marque Best Of British Beer Award for Wales and the West Country. 6X is available in draught cask, keg, can and bottle formats.

In addition to offering an inclusive beer, the estate of 47 Wadworth managed houses is catering to all those requesting a gluten-free meal. Wadworth has made a training commitment to Coeliac UK to ensure that all its staff are trained in catering for gluten-free customers. Wadworth has joined Coeliac UK’s GF accreditation scheme for their gluten-free options, demonstrating their commitment to providing safe gluten-free food to their customers. Only the highest quality malted barley can be used and only after it has passed a series of stringent quality tests. Yet, it is a notoriously delicate crop, extremely susceptible to disease and vulnerable to weather stresses. After harvest, our master brewer painstakingly and meticulously combines the barley with select hops, yeast and the purest local water before allowing it to mature for up to 6 weeks, during which time it develops its distinctively clean flavour. The pubs being sold are based in Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Berkshire and Worcestershire.

Originally 6%, Coopers would mark XXXXXX on the wooden casks to indicate the beer's strength. One day a 'lazy' Cooper simply wrote '6' followed by a single ‘X’ on the cask and that's how it got its name! The ABVreduced to 4.3% due to rationing of raw ingredients during WWII and remains that strength in bottles and cans to this day. The ABV is 4.1% on draught - take a look at our Micro Casks to enjoy cask fresh beer at home! ABV Historic Wiltshire brewer Wadworth is selling 21 of its pubs to Liberation Group’s Bristol-based subsidiary Butcombe for an undisclosed sum.best bitter is one of the most famous ales from the south of England and was first brewed 5th December 1923.

Did you know, 6X originally had an ABV of 6% but this was reduced to 4.3% and later to 4.1% in draught, due to the rationing of raw ingredients during WWII. [9] See also [ edit ] Wadworth is a brewery company founded in 1875 in Devizes, Wiltshire, England, best known for their 6X beer brand. [1] History [ edit ] Both beers have been enjoyed across Wiltshire and the south of England for decades with the latter popular right across the UK. Henry’s IPA and Wadworth 6X are well known as original ales and the rebrand recognises their heritage, authenticity and status as time-honoured bar favourites. One of my favourite beers is Swordfish. Originally made as a special for the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm centenary and named after a famous aircraft used to deliver torpedoes. This beer is 6X with a mix of Pusser's Navy Rum (a rum rationed to the Navy in WW2) and tastes fantastic. Being gluten free and vegan, 6X Gold is a delicious beer for everybody and was tasted by Simon Mayo on BBC Radio 2's Drivetime show during Coeliac Week 2017. The beer has also won the Taste of the West awards and Bronze in the International Beer Challenge and is fully certified by Coeliac UK.
