About this deal

WARMTH, COMFORT & NO BAD HAIR DAYS: These winter fleece headbands will come to your rescue on many a cold winter’s day. They keep your ears warm from the wind, and stay in place. Unlike beanies, these premium fleece headbands provide unsurpassed heat retention while keeping your hairstyle intact. It's perfect for any hair length too. Go on looking your best on the morning run or on your commute. FITS MEN & WOMEN & KIDS: One size fits most people. The length is 19.6 inches and the width is 5.9 inches. But the ear warmer has good elasticity so that can fit most of the different head circumferences. The other negative is that when things get extra sweaty, the Pixel Bus Pro can get slippery. I've never actually lost one but you do feel like you need to adjust them quite a bit.

PORTABLE: Lightweight running headband is convenient to carry for those moments where you just need a bit of warmth

Ergonomic Neck Warmer Very Useful

The design puts a small circular opening right in the earbud piece that normally seals the ear canal. It works well and coupled with a variety of different sized wings it does a great job of staying put even when sweaty. It allows you to use them similarly to bone conduction headphones and just leave them in. When you want to listen to music, hit play. When you want to talk then hit pause and you can hear just fine. However, these materials can be pricier than others so weigh all your options carefully before committing to one type of material over another. Durability When shopping for cycling headbands, size matters—if it’s too small, it won’t stay in place during your ride; if it’s too big, it will slip off easily in between winds and turns.

Every option on this list is something I spent time testing to make sure it would stay put in my ears. I imagined dropping a small wireless earbud out of an ear during a ride and suddenly having a very expensive paperweight with only one earbud. What I found during actual testing is that every product I tested was plenty secure once I figured out the correct sizing but there’s a little more to consider. For me the biggest advantage is the charging system. While both options use a proprietary adapter, Suunto includes a powerbank. The powerbank means you don’t actually ever need to use the proprietary charger. Instead just pop them on the power bank and when it’s time to charge the powerbank you can use a standard USB-C cord.

In many ways the Suunto Wing and the Shokz OpenPro headphones are very similar. They are both bone conduction with almost the same control scheme and roughly the same battery life. The Suunto Wing, though, adds a couple of unique details that might tip the balance for you. The Shokz Openrun Pro headphones were the first pair of headphones that truly changed my cycling. When I first started testing headphones I would only sometimes ride with music if I was riding outside. I always enjoyed the quiet sounds around me and I worried about losing spatial awareness. The Shokz Openrun Pro changed my whole outlook. This method is different than other plastic or metal wristbands because they leave behind physical minerals like calcium (and other substances) that build up around your skin over time, making them difficult to keep clean. The sweatband is not machine washable. You can handwash or gently dry them, but they will probably still be reusable afterward. Conclusion Once you've worked that out, you want to think about what features matter to you. At the low end you get a pair of headphones that works for music and that's about it. As you go up in price there are options for better sound quality as well as features like active noise cancelling or hear-through modes. There are also better or worse app experiences, Bluetooth multipoint, and wireless charging as things worth considering.

Today I take these headphones on every ride unless I'm testing something else. That's even true if I'm riding with someone else. The button on the left is so simple to start and stop my music that I'll leave my house with music in my ears. When I arrive at the meeting point I'll stop my music. If the conversation lulls, or we end up strung out single file, I'll restart my music. The only change I've made over the years is that I've switched to the mini version. The two size options are exactly the same but the mini uses a shorter rear band which is less likely to get caught on my helmet or collar. This is especially true on a more aggressive bike with a lower front end aero position. No matter what type of cyclist you are—from weekend warrior to professional—having the right gear will make all the difference in how much fun you have on each ride.

Wearing the bands behind the ears has been shown to increase sweating in some places. When ear sweatbands are worn on both ears, the effects are further exacerbated. How do I wash it? Is it machine-washable?
