Palate: Again, that classic Oban chocolate-orange thing is front and center, but there’s some extra lactic tang in the finish reminiscent of leesy chardonnay. The finish is strong, with yeasty bread, shortbread, and a drying sensation that invites another sip. Lean and muscular. A little bit plain, but nicely enjoyable. Representing House Lannister, Lagavulin is the embodiment of the meticulous calculation and tenacity employed by the Lannister’s in their rise to conquer the Iron Throne. This Lagavulin 9 year is a roaring single malt that recalls the Lannisters' riches and is best served neat or with a single drop of water.To celebrate the eighth and final season of the critically-acclaimed TV series, Game of Thrones, Diageo and HBO have released a limited-edition collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. The collection features eight scotch whiskies, each paired with one of the iconic Houses of Westeros, as well as the Night’s Watch, giving fans an authentic taste of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. The ninth bottle in the range, that was released later by Diageo. Mortlach Six Kingdoms is inspired by the final season of the popular series and brings a homage to the continent of Westeros. The whisky matured in first fill sherry casks and finished in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak. It’s a fruity dram, with mild tones of vanilla, honey and herbs.
