About this deal

The SJT must be booked online. You will be able tochoose the locationof the test, which will include theoption to sit the test remotely, i.e. from home. A group of 1st-year medical students finish up a day of home patient visits to enable them to find out more about chronic conditions like diabetes. They have been able to go to patients' houses and ask them questions about their condition, its duration and its effect on their lives. They decide to meet for coffee after the visits to discuss the symptoms they saw during the day.

Accurately assesses, takes into account and is sensitive to the person’s current and longer-term expectations, needs, situation and their wider social circumstances However, an even better way of protecting his identity would be to remove his initials entirely, perhaps referring to him as Mr X. In this way, no one could link the patient to the discussion that Mark and the other students were having. Whilst Mr T.S is an Appropriate means of anonymity, it is not ideal and could have been improved. Time management – you have on average two minutes per question, so you should not dwell on a single question for too long. It is possible to skip a question and return to it at a later point, this will ensure you are no spending too much time on single question;

It’s also easy to get fatigued and lose focus in the SJT, so it may be worth making sure you take a short break every so often to regroup. One example might be taking a 20-30 second break after every 20 questions or so, it will vary from person to person – another reason why practising your timing is important! A) Explain to the family that the treatment plan has been carefully developed by the medical team and that additional tests and procedures are not necessary. Once you have signed in to your testing account you will be able to select one of the exam series codes. If you chose UKFP-SJT, you will be able to search for a test centre and book a place in one of the available appointment slots (subject to availability). Read each scenario and option thoroughly before answering the questions, begin to start using this during your SJT preparation. Within each scenario, each rating can be used more than once or not at all, e.g. everything could be a very appropriate thing to do.

Observe how people deal with different situations and how they communicate with patients, relatives, and their own colleagues.

It is important to note thatsome universities look at Situational Judgement more than others. For some universities, your application will not be considered if you have a poor score but apart from this the section is not considered. Other universities will put a greater emphasis on Situational Judgement by using it as part of the MMI interview process. Make sure to research your chosen universities and find out just how much it is taken into account. The overriding theme of this scenario is protecting the identity and anonymity of patients. There are two factors to consider here; the location in which the conversation has taken place, as well as the students’ actual conversation regarding the patient. The fact that Mark has anonymised the patient to only his initials is a good way of protecting the patient.

However, if a candidate thought the answer was D, A, B, E then C, they would score 12 marks as follows: Read “GMC - Good Medical Practice” to get a good overview of some of the rules you may need to know D. Use Google Translate to change the patient information leaflet into the patient’s native language and use this instead of verbally counselling them;

Remember that it is important to be aware of the limitations and capabilities of a trainee pharmacist. You should be careful not to refer a problem on when you can deal with it yourself, but also you should not attempt to resolve a problem that should be referred;

This section has a different scoring system to the other sections, so it’s useful to familiarise yourself with this too. Band 1 Our admission experts will guide you through exactlywhat you need to be doing to boost your application including UCAT preparation - which starts now! When dealing with difficult colleagues, escalation to a senior tends to come after talking to the person directly (unless patient safety is being compromised) Option F would not help resolve the situation as the medicine is not on the formulary so referring to the formulary pharmacist will not help the patient. Option G would not help resolve the situation because the consultant is the one who requested the medicine, therefore the query would just be prolonged. How the SJT scoring system works

Patient focus – patient-centred care, demonstrating empathy, respecting the patient, maintaining safety A. Accept you will be unable to counsel the patient as you are unable to speak her native language; The Professional Attributes Framework (PAF) (see Figure) has been developed specifically for foundation year trainee pharmacist recruitment and forms the basis for the SJTs. You should keep in mind the domains the SJT is assessing while reading through Good Medical Practice and the types of scenarios that could be included in each:
