About this deal

It's a shame, because I loved playing the game a couple of nights ago and look forward to playing it again. When it was announced that a board game was going to be released on Kickstarter based on this great franchise, I freaked out. Ghostbusters: The Board Game is a co-operative miniatures-based experience that sees up to four players (it can also be played alone) taking on the role of the four Ghostbusters as they move (or drive in Ecto-1) around the board catching ghosts and closing spirit gates.

You could say it had a lot of worrying about slime and gates and not enough about Busting ghosts, and the first game didn’t even use traps. Then again, that’s not to say that Ghostbusters: The Board Game isn’t fun because it certainly has its classic moments, e. There’s a sense of progression as you go from scenario to scenario, leveling up your character in the process. You might not get as much detail as we normally have with our tutorials, but we’re gonna get a lot done today! The answer is that they’ve fared okay, their creation aiming for a relatively straightforward set of mechanics so that fans of the film who perhaps don’t dabble frequently in tabletop games can sit down and enjoy it. i'm even more happy that Dan's artwork is being used for the models; now if we can just get an animated series in his style Also agreed.

Yesterday’s post, talking about the Ankh Kickstarter game, has got me thinking about my own (tiny) collection of Kickstarter games – tiny, since I sold most of my games off between house moves. The character miniatures fair considerably better than the tiles, the highlight of course being the sizable Puft Man that looms pleasingly over all the other pieces and is begging me to give him a touch of paint to bring him in line with his movie counterpart. Venkman gets XP when he’s slimed by a ghost, and Zeddemore works by depositing adversaries in the Ecto-1. Venture back to Ecto-1 and you can deposit these horrible being back to the Spirit Realm, a seperate tile at the side of the board. By the time you start the final mission, there’s a definite sense of ‘been there, done that’ because you’ve encountered the ghosts before.

Ghostbusters: The Board Game is a cooperative game for 1-4 players where each player gets to control the original crew from the 1984 film, trying to close gates that are letting ghosts through to the land of the living.

throw Bill Murray's legendary contrariness into things, it made more financial and practical sense to go with caricatures. Moving out of range of a ghost and losing the stream is where the ghost’s special rules come into play, because provided you don’t actually target the ghosts they’ll mostly just sit there and do absolutely nothing, which is a little bit odd because in the movies they’d simply wreak havoc on just about everything. It’s as close to “Ghostbusters 3” as you’re going to get (what with the actual actors voicing the characters) and is probably going to be better than the upcoming movie with the all-female cast. While I do talk about playing the games with friends, these reviews will primarily focus on the single-player experience. Cryptozoic Entertainment put in some serious effort to make sure that this game looked FANTASTIC and was absolutely DRIPPING with theme.Ghostbusters: The Board Game is a fun, well executed, and reverent addition to the Ghostbusters legacy.
