About this deal

Because we understand that you don’t want a huge, complicated and inflexible dehumidifier in your home, we’ve designed the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range to fit right in with your lifestyle. I am planning to leave the machine off, but the room gets very cold, the temperature can drop to 14 degrees.

Be prepared to empty it fairly often though, especially when first reducing the humidity in your home. There is a recessed handle, but portability is one area the MeacoDry ABC lags behind other machines. Like all refrigerant models, it struggles at low temperatures (look at desiccant dehumidifiers instead). Hi Chris, noticed something with the firmware that I am not sure is intended quirk of a behaviour or a bug. However, if you’re trying to deal with mildew, mould or damp patches, then you’ll want to keep it a little lower.

Featuring the latest low-noise and energy saving technology the 12 litre MeacoDry 'ABC' is the quietest compressor dehumidifiers from Meaco, making it the most effective and practical dehumidifying solution for the home. The multi-award winning Meaco brand of dehumidifiers introduces the new ‘ABC’ range of home compressor dehumidifiers. It can be quite startling to see how high humidity gets - we plonked the product in a bathroom to see what a hot shower would do to the surrounding air and it was, inevitably, quickly in the 90s (AKA a Hong Kong high summer in your home).

This particular MeacoDry is the 12L model which, as its name suggests, can extract up to 12 litres of liquid a day (in 80 per cent relative humidity) - it's got nothing to do with the condensing tank's capacity. there is no doubt that the quality of the dehumidifiers has improved over the years, especially the DD8L range. With less obtrusive background noise the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ is more suitable for use in smaller properties than other compressor dehumidifiers.Of course, it’s also quite expensive and for smaller rooms and spaces you can save some cash with a more compact 10-12L dehumidifier. The pressure-sensitive keys, clear indicators and digital display make it easy to switch between modes and keep an eye on the current humidity levels.

Meanwhile, a Smart Laundry mode switches the target down to 35%rh and ramps up the fan speed in an effort to dry a rack of clothes. Automatic turn off – this setting prevents spillage when the water tank is full, protecting your home and property.

If the tank does get full then the product knows and will sound a subtle beeping alarm, complete with red light, to let you know it won't do any more dehumidifying until you empty the tank. At its lowest the sound level is said to be 35-40dB, which positions this product in "library quiet" territory. Giving you great value for money, it combines excellent performance with low energy costs and super-quiet operation, giving you the best of all worlds. On even the heaviest day of testing I didn’t have to empty it more than once, although I’ve generally been working at room temperatures of around 22°C with humidity levels starting at around 62-67%.

The digital control panel has lights to indicate which features are currently selected, along with a display showing the room’s relative humidity.

The MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range comes with a two year parts and labour warranty, and an option of extending the warranty to five years.
