About this deal

Ali's father, a famous detective, is under threat of prison and disgrace, and the whole family's under stress, because he's accused (falsely) of violence against the father of a murder suspect. Ali has helped to solve two big cases and he knows he has what it takes to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, Alex Cross. Ali get harassed about being a cop's kid and ends up in a debate about whether the cops ae good or bad. The other view thinks the police are honest and caring and they’re trying to do their best in difficult situations.

James Patterson – Books – Ali Cross

Not compared to being alone out there on the street, or kidnapped, or whatever else Gabe might have been going through. The first book wasn't really violent but was pretty intense but nothing that the middle school crowd couldn't handle. There was a bunch of talk about police shootings and gang violence which is definitely an important topic but it wasn’t surrounding an actual storyline that had a beginning and an end. It is inappropriate and upsetting to see romantic relationships pushed on 10 year old children with this kind of language and suggestion. As the son of a police detective, Ali finds himself thrown into the middle of the conflict at school and in public.Although the intended audience is middle schoolers, I think this is a story that is great for readers of any age group. His friend Gabe has developed an app that feeds into local police radio, sending texts and notifications to Ali at all times, day and night.

Alex Cross has taught his son the values he needs to solve the mystery: intelligence, persistence, and logic. There was nothing funny about what was going on, but it was hard not to admire a fire that big and burning that brightly, in a guy as little as Ali.He enlists the help of his father, as well as his step-mother, Bree Stone, to get some answers and to help fill in some of the blanks around Gabe’s location. Patterson addresses crime issues from the perspective of a middle-schooler, doing so effectively and with pizzazz.
