About this deal

Paramount Home Media Distribution has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray Wes Craven's Scream 2 (1997), starring David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Jamie Kennedy. Ghostface warns of a twisted "final act" to the insidious game of horror movie mayhem, in which all rules are made to be broken. Starting off fairly strong and entertaining, Scream 3 is the weakest entry of the immensely popular franchise and was originally intended to be the final installment to Wes Craven's slasher series. Paramount Pictures has provided us with an official domestic trailer for Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's Scream (2021), starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Marley Shelton, and Jenna Ortega.

The default English lossless track is the same as found on the previous release and unlike the picture always was a very solid and adept soundtrack. Scream made a franchise of telling us what we already knew, but we still flocked to the theaters to see who bought it next. On the official press release, there is also an interesting part: In celebration of the 25th anniversary, Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures will bring SCREAM back to select cinemas for a special two-day event on October 10 and 11. This new colour grade really does give the whole film a real vibrancy with an energy and an enhanced clarity to the colours that is now a real joy to watch after twenty years of the drab previous releases.

Tons of horror releases (and 4K horror re-releases) are heading our way in October, including a bunch of Screams, The Mist, Friday the 13th, Rosemary's Baby, and the Shrek 6-film collection. The Scream 3 steelbook edition also comes with 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and digital versions of each film.

The second sequel of the immensely popular franchise takes a stab at 4K Ultra HD with an excellent Dolby Vision HDR presentation that offers fans with an outstanding improvement over the previous Blu-ray. Lionsgate Films Home Entertainment brings 'Scream 3' to Blu-ray as on a Region A locked, BD25 disc and housed in a blue eco-case. There's also evidence of some digital sharpening, likely due to the studio using an aged DVD print, but it's thankfully not as ghastly as the previous two films or to the extent of glaring halos. We reviewed this Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Scream 3 on a JVC-DLA N5 Ultra HD 4K projector and a Panasonic DP-UB820 4K UHD player. At startup, fans can enjoy a trailer for the latest installment in the franchise, along with two promos for the 'Saw' series and other Blu-ray releases from the studio. And while on the first film, we were just grateful to get the film in as good a quality as we did, for this third time round, it begins to annoy that there has been absolutely nothing new added at all to the bonus features roster for these original films. Although it falls a tad on the loud side, the DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack for this third slasher flick is still fairly entertaining, offering some fun jump scares.
