About this deal

Upon arrival at Dimrill Dale, they engaged in a short battle with the Orcs and, after overpowering them, entered the Great Gates. They established the Twenty-first Hall in the North End as their main base until Balin moved to the Chamber of Mazarbul. Being a direct descendant of the line of Durin, Balin proclaimed himself as the Lord of Moria and set up a throne room in the chamber. For the next 5 years, the colony in Moria thrived. Even though they never found the Ring (which had actually been taken from Thráin II by Sauron), the Dwarves found many other valuable treasures like mithril, helm and Durin’s Axe.

Interviewer: I imagine it's very difficult to maintain friendships with other characters outside of the book. Boïndil Doubleblade: Yes, a few tidbits to get you in the mood and to prove that even in a book, not every scene works right away. (grin) Glóin is known primarily for being the father of Gimli, and accompanying him in Rivendell. When he was in the Company, he and his brother Óin often were in charge of lighting fires. Mystery of the Dwarves (MG_Dwarves) With the aid of the ring, Bilbo eluded the Dwarves' captors. Weeks later, he found a way to free them. Hiding in empty wine barrels, the company made their way down the Forest River to Lake-town. There they were fed and clothed with the hope that they would defeat Smaug and regain prosperity for the region.

Bifur is not often mentioned individually in the books, but like his cousin Bofur wore a yellow hood. Tungdil!" roared Ingrimmsch expectantly, standing dangerously close to the sphere, so that he could hear its soft hissing, which sounded sometimes brighter and sometimes darker. "Vraccas, do not let my eyes be deceived," he prayed, almost placing a hand against the energy shield; he swallowed, and never had his throat seemed so tight. On April 26, 2941, Gandalf and the Dwarves arrived at Bag End. After a big tea and supper with Bilbo, they explained themselves and their intentions. Bilbo was at first reluctant to join the group but Gandalf rushed him out of the door. Arch-Mage Trebonius asked me to find out what happened to the Dwarves. Unfortunately, he didn't give me much information to go on. I'm not sure if he was serious. And that’s Ori... BONUS ROUND Bard Bowman NOT Will TurnerBard rebuilt his ancestral town of Dale at the foot of the Lonely Mountain. He eventually became its king, establishing and maintaining good relations with the dwarves, where he lived peacefully and his son Bain succeeded him after his death. The other day I was talking with a dear colleague, Valyakov or something like that. Different setting, but also a Heitz world. The poor guy had learned after the fact that he almost died in the sixth volume! Imagine that! You go into a fight and suddenly the arrow hits fatally! But a woman interceded, and that's why he kept the part. In questo volume i personaggi si riducono e le vicende narrate sono veramente belle. La trama fin da subito coinvolge il lettore. A mio parere è il volume più bello della serie. Il finale non è scontato ed è un finale molto bello, descritto veramente bene. Un finale diverso dal classico finale del romanzo. Lo stesso autore dice che non ama i finali classici. In questo caso la faccenda si conclude ma le ultime pagine lasciano uno spiraglio. Qualcosa potrebbe ancora succedere...I was also a little disappointed with the decision to set the story 250 years later as some of the better characters from the first three books are now dead. Rodario in particular was always entertaining and added a lighter touch; his descendants that feature here are simply not as amusing as he was. Finished it yesterday, and the climactic battle was a good read, but I still don't know about Tungdil. Some characters are convinced Tungdil was who he claimed, and others were convinced he was an impostor. Dwalin Dwalin was a smart one. He decided to stay at the Lonely Mountain where he lived out the rest of his life, dying at the ripe, old age of 340. He lived through the war of the ring, but it was never revealed if he or Gloin ever took part in it. Again and again the dwarf tried, but the hinge had jammed, and loud, angry cursing sounded from under the helmet. Finally, the dwarf tap-danced on the spot, intoning the Camelot song by Monty Python, while around him everything burst into laughter and some joined in the dance. But the nations still distrust each other, and when a child is found in the Grey Mountains who speaks the language of the älfar, the dwarves believe this little girl heralds a new threat. And they will be right – just not in the way they thought.

I beg to differ. The ending was the height of ambiguity, as far as the central question of the story is concerned. Boïndil Doubleblade: That's right. Just kidding. I've already hinted at something, but that's all I want to talk about. I was able to get the Dwemer books "The Egg of Time" and "Divine Metaphysics Adapted to the Meanest of Intellects" translated. "Divine Metaphysics" seems to be a treatise explaining how to create a new god through sorcery. "The Egg of Time" seems to be a refutation of the idea that linking to a divine source of power can be dangerous if interrupted. Though "The Egg of Time" refutes this idea, perhaps the author was wrong, and this is what happened to the Dwarves. According to the prologue of the Lord of the Rings under the section Concerning Hobbits, the Hobbits are still with us today, but "now they avoid us with dismay and are becoming hard to find." And the line of Dáin prospered, and the wealth and renown of the kingship was renewed, until there arose again for the last time an heir of that House that bore the name of Durin, and he returned to Moria; and there was light again in deep places, and the ringing of hammers and the harping of harps, until the world grew old and the Dwarves failed and the days of Durin's race were ended.

THE DWARVES (Volume 1)

Most of the time, when an author does something like this, it's because he/she is leading up to the next installment of the saga. But, upon reading Heitz's afterword, it's made clear that he's done with the dwarves. In fact, he points out that the ending is "unambiguous." And the line of Dáin and the wealth and renown of the kingship endured in Erebor until the world grew old, and the days of the Dwarves were ended. Solid ending, finished cleanly with no frustrating cliffhangers or obviously loose plot holes. Gets 3 stars instead of 4 because there are some exciting events/confrontations I wanted to see during the middle of the book that just fizzled and didn’t happen (almost like a disappointing cop-out in the story telling, but I can’t give details there without spoilers) but the last few chapters gave me some of the action I was wanting earlier and gives an ending that feels complete (which kept it at 3 stars instead of dropping to 2). Whether you’re in the group that loves or in the group that hates the Hobbitmovies, there’s no denying that these were pretty big films that made A LOT of money! Even though the movie was called The Hobbit, most of the attention was focused on the dwarves and their epic quest to retake the Lonely Mountain from the dragon, Smaug. We spent three movies watching these dwarves fight for what was rightfully theirs, so it’s hard not to get attached to some of them.

Boïndil Doubleblade: I don't want to deny that special effects play a big role again in the latest book. And I don't see myself as a character actor who wants to appear in a chamber piece. My physical presence is required, along with pithy sayings, as befits dwarves. Entertainment and diversion in a beautiful setting, that's what we want to offer our readers. In addition, there are believable scenes with moral dilemmas of the protagonists, poignant despair and much more. The books certainly have depth, without wanting to be Shakespeare. What was taken up in the published text was the concept of "Durin VII (and last)" who was a descendant of Dáin Ironfoot and lived sometime in the Fourth Age, which seems to indicate that at least some of the concept of the Dwarves dying out was retained. Bloodthirsty," Goda murmured and stopped, waving her arm and contorting her face, then she sneezed harshly and the monsters laughed.
