Climb aboard the The Train to Christmas Town, a train ride expertly designed to bring the spirit of Christmas to life for another year. Bringing the whole family together for a special ride to remember, experience festive fun with fabulous characters and interactive entertainment. The return of The Santa Steam Express will see families welcomed on-board the festively decorated 1970’s carriages by none other than Santa himself – plus his merry helpers, on one of three departures each day (09:30, 11:45, 14:00) for a 1 hour 15 magical steam journey around London. Children will enjoy a drink and festive sweet treat on arrival and will receive their very own gift from Santa as he passes through the carriages – making precious memories as he goes. The consist includes the No. 1225 2-8-4 steam locomotive and tender. The engine is equipped with a smoke unit and traction tires and features some neat detail including a bell and whistle. The tender, connected via a snap-together drawbar, houses the electronic sound unit that includes chuffing, the whistle, and crew talk. This set features a coach with a hobo sitting by a campfire that can be flipped over to produce a “normal” roof. Note the footprints, too. You will travel through an enchanted forest which is transformed by a multitude of lights and surprises. You will then arrive at Levisham Station, where a dazzling light show will begin. Once the Weardale Railway Conductor makes his “All Aboard” call you will be transported into a magical atmosphere created by caroling elves ready to board the Train to Christmas Town, where the magical elf folk are waiting to share the spirit of the season with everyone as we make our way to collect Santa Claus. During the journey our train staff serve the children with a drink and chocolates. Parents and other adults are not forgotten with a mince pie and either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink. Santa walks through the train to see the children, providing an opportunity to take photographs and to wish everyone the compliments of the season. At Nene Valley Santa Express, your Santa Steam experience starts with a welcome from our station staff and badge team – entertainment is provided at busy weekends. This is followed by an exciting visit to Santa’s log cabin where each child receives a special present from the old gentleman himself. Following a short wait families then join our steam hauled, decorated train for a fun-filled ride to Peterborough and return.

You can have even more control using the LionChief app for Apple or Android devices. A user can set individual sound levels, turn the smoke on and off, and change the momentum. Once you have returned from Father Christmas’s Winter Wonderland, you can then visit the Activity Area where you can write Father Christmas a letter and post it to him at our festive post office. Also enjoy craft making, face painting, story telling and our dance tent! The three-car consist includes two coaches and an observation. One of the items that distinguishes the set is the hobo having a fire on top of one of the cars. The element can be flipped over of you want the car to have a “normal” roof.
