About this deal

Leave Me Alone –Keep Trugg alive and kill all enemy Heroes. In some matchups this will be nice and easy, but in others nearly impossible to achieve. Your opponent should be gunning for Trugg considering how much he does for the army, so consider one of the General’s Handbook ones. Battle Tactics The Troggherds played a vital part of Skragrott the Loonking's conquest of Skrappa Spill. [2b] Organisation Living Landmark –Thematically this one is my favourite, the general has blended in so well with the terrain that the enemy army hasn’t spotted him. It’s a turn-one-only deepstrike that has to be placed within 3″ of a terrain piece and still more than 9″ away from enemies. Unfortunately this means Trugg would forgo his Leystone in turn 1 which you don’t want to miss out on for defensive buffs. Placing on a Troggboss however to get into enemy lines early with an otherwise slow model is very powerful. Artefacts Finally there’s Chasing the Moon which requires your general to survive the battle, potentially much easier than it used to be if they’re a Galetian Champion, and to have been affected by the Light of the Bad Moon in 3 battle rounds. Battle Tactics

None know for certain how many Troggoths inhabit the realms, but it is theorised by Azyrite scholars that, due to their nonsensical biology, the first of their number came from the deepest and darkest arcane gunge pools when the Realms first formed - essentially making them creation's foetid effluvium, and explaining both their adaptability and attraction to Realmstone. [2a]There you have it. A very expensive and low model count army that takes advantage of the sweet new models that GW is pushing out. With as few models as there are, you just might not be as competitive as you like.

Just like their cave-dwelling counterparts, these troggoths have preternaturally fast metabolisms that allow them to regenerate wounds at an alarming rate. Grimscuttle is a total rewrite from the old White Dwarf rules and feels like it still doesn’t quite get there for what is one of the weaker standalone parts of the army. This now lets you deploy up to two spiderfang units off the board with each skitterstrand that you have already deployed in ambush from beyond – bringing all the units on together when the skitterstrand deploys onto the board. It’s certainly an interesting way to keep some of your units safe from early alpha strikes, but can leave you at the mercy of multiple 9” charges. Battalions

Command Trait: Shepard of Idiotic Destruction

Improved Moon Mechanics – The bad moon isn’t going to be immediately flying off the board before you can use it anymore, and there are new ways to count your models as under its light even when they aren’t. This deadly duo combines the cunning of a Kruleboyz boss with the primal strength of a Mirebrute Troggoth, the smellier cousin of the Dankhold Troggoth that the Gloomspite Gitz often coerce into battle. Seeming to be intertwined with the magical atunements of each Mortal Realm within Age of Sigmar, the construct is impacting Trugg in bizarre ways. Unfortunately, the main impact that Trugg is aware of is the earth-shattering headache that it is inducing upon him, likely exacerbated by Troggoth’s innate repulsion of magic. Kitted-out King Starting off we will look at my favorite, the Troggoth army. (Note: This is not a cheap army to buy and play, troggoths are massive models that cost a lot of points and the price is reflected via GW)

We are going to look at building an army of these bad boys three different ways, using the new battletome. This kit allows you to build your miniature as a Dankhold Troggboss instead. Regardless of your choice of unit, you can customise your miniature with a variety of heads, weapons, arms and accessories for making your models look distinct – great if you're looking to add multiples of these massive monsters to your army. The set also features a host of basing materials you can use on any of your Gloomspite Gitz models.Just one, and it’s a weird one. Troggherd Heavies has a required Troggboss, one Dankhold Troggoth and no optional units. For this you get the Magnificent ability. This is actually OK, Dankholds are no longer totally embarrassing, and this is an easy battalion to fulfil for a decent reward. Why there is just one core battalion and only for Troggs is another question, but it’s what we’ve got. Grand Strategies The Kruleboyz are well known for using their menageries of beasts in battle, like the Sludgeraker and Marshcrawla Sloggoth . They’re also experts at killing giant Monsters, and the Beast-skewer Killbow is their most effective ranged weapon. Four, including the now ubiquitous ‘have ever battle tactic you complete be from your faction list’. Protect da Shrine! Could potentially see some use, requiring you to have no enemy models within 12” of the Loonshrine at the end of the game, and for it to have not been smashed to rubble. Superior Spell-flinger has a Tzeentchy flair and asks you to have two of the Gitz endless spells on the battlefield when the game ends. You don’t have as much control of that as you might like, but the Scuttletide at least can be quite difficult to dispel. Path to Glory rules for your Gloomspite Gitz to concoct strange and esoteric potions to empower your clan. Found in the realm of Hysh it seems, this grants a 5+ Feel No Pain for mortal wounds for the bearer. Troggoths are already tanky so this is in line with their M.O. Battalion: Stomping Megamob

The already impressive range and reliability of the Killbow pairs well with the Big Yellers Warclan ability, netting you a tasty extra 3” range, as well as a reroll should you fail to hit. For veteran players, going from being a surprisingly magically powerful army to a fairly mediocre one will sting. But that old army was the worst in the game for most of its lifespan. In trade, just about everything got better on a base warscroll level, the keywords are easier to work with and the core moon mechanic will be better to play with.
