About this deal

This comes as soaps fans have been growing more and more excited since Neighbours actors Stefan Dennis and Rebekah Elmaloglou teased ahead to some "mind-blowing" plot twists in the new episodes. When Amy headed off on a blind date a few weeks ago, she found herself enduring a cringeworthy time with Ben, an obsessed superfan of the soap One Way Street. One Way Street was one of the original titles suggested for Neighbours before the show launched.

Number 32's also hyped up the "barely-used fireplace" in the living room – an admission that we've only seen the kitchen set at that house in recent years. Neighbours used to end every episode with a cast member screeching "Unmissable drama!", before a trailer was shown to hype up upcoming events. Fans would constantly tease the show for the OTT promos, so the tagline was later scrapped. Neighboursicon Guy Pearce agreed to return as Mike Young on one condition: that the finale revealed his character to be Sam's biological father. The writers were at it again in 2016, when the Tanaka twins were revealed as Paul Robinson's children. This also went against established continuity from episodes that had aired in the '80s. Ben broke the sad news that One Way Street would be finishing soon, but he and other "Street fighters" would be celebrating until the end.

In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, Herbison elaborated on this further: "Guy was brilliant. We had a shape for the story, which of course involved revisiting Mike and 'plain' Jane. But he brought so much more to it. It was his idea that Mike turn out to be Sam's father, which we all felt was one of the most touching elements of the finale."

In Susan's final monologue, she stated that "those who watched us from afar" deserved a place in the Ramsay Street history book.In addition to the exciting release date news, Neighbours shared a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming episodes. When Channel 5's decision to axe Neighbours was first announced, superfan Edward Skylover set up an online petition calling for a rethink. Over 69,000 viewers signed it, but Channel 5 didn't have enough Cash In The Attic (ahem) to continue funding Neighbours and refused to budge. In the finale episode, Terese was seen clutching an envelope with the name of her conveyancing solicitor – T Oliver. Emma is an experienced entertainment news journalist with NCTJ accreditation and a First-Class Honours Degree in Journalism. Having started her career as a broadcast journalist, Emma’s voice has been heard on varying radio stations across the UK including Absolute, Magic, BBC Three Counties Radio, LBC London News and more. Another funny moment in the finale saw Sam correctly point out an inconvenient fact that fans have mentioned over the years – Ramsay Street isn't a street at all, but in fact a court.

The new instalments of the soap will also stream on Prime Video in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Neighbours has now come to an end, but catch-up episodes are available via My 5 (UK) and 10 Play (Australia). In a recent scene, Harold was kept updated on the faces from Ramsay Street's past who'd been in touch to offer contributions to the history book.

The teaser clip features a few familiar faces, as several Neighbours cast favourites have been confirmed as returning, as well as some new characters.
