Social Skills – Preschool kids can talk and work together to complete puzzles and socialise at the same time. Roll into small balls (you should be able to make 16-20) and place them spaced out on your baking tray (you may need a couple of trays depending on size). Push down gently with your fingers so they are a little less ball like and more biscuit like (you can see the ridges in the picture). These do spread in the oven so don’t completely flatten them. These sugar biscuits are one of my favourite recipes. I normally find sugar biscuits too sweet, but these have almond extract in which really helps counterbalance the sweetness. These make the perfect biscuits to turn into Gruffalo sugar biscuits while listening to the Gruffalo story by Tonies.
What a great post! I haven’t read this book but they did have a TV show of it on here awhile ago and my son loved it. I like incorporating themed activities for things like this, and the feet look simple but fun!

Once the biscuits have cooled you can start your decorating. I am afraid I didn’t take any pictures from here on out. By incorporating a book which children naturally love into learning activities, children can expand their knowledge and learn whilst still having fun. This is called Interest based learning or interest based play and it’s a fantastic way to help little ones to develop a love of books. Here is a list of fantastic and fun activities.I remember making Gruffalo Masks with the kids one year and it was a huge hit. The boys suddenly transformed into Gruffalo characters and a whole lot of activity followed. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon role playing outdoors, crafting in the art room and enjoying the theme without being forced to sit and learn the old school way. As it is her absolute favourite I thought it would be nice to recreate it in food form to celebrate World Book Day. Literacy Skills – Talking about the activity as it is completed is a great way to get early years children talking and using their words. My three year old absolutely loves The Gruffalo. It is the most read book that we own. Even though she can recite it, we must read it about ten times a day. Jigsaw Puzzles are very beneficial and with 9 Gruffalo story scenes to choose from this Ravensburger Puzzle set is in my opinion a brilliant resource to help little ones learn. We really enjoyed receiving this puzzle and it was fun to test out and very well illustrated. Children will often find a book they love such as The Gruffalo and this can then be used as a theme to teach different skills to kids that help aid literacy, learning and development. Normally recipes say to put the dough into the fridge as it is, but if you roll out the dough onto parchment paper before putting it into the fridge for at least 30 minutes, it makes it much easier when you take it out. In fact last year we went on a fantastic Gruffalo Trail with my daughter Sylvia. It was so much fun and we really enjoyed looking for Gruffalo Characters on our adventure. How the Gruffalo Jigsaw Puzzles Can Help Kids Learn Fill your sandwich with your chosen filling. Using a large circular cookie cutter create a circle, you might need to flatten with a rolling pin to ensure your sandwich fits. Do not disregard the leftovers as you will need them to complete The Gruffalo. Using some of the leftovers create a small circular nose. I cut this using a knife as I don't have a small enough cookie cutter. To create the eyes, I simply sliced two pieces of carrot. For the eyebrows I cut some of the crust and placed above the carrot eyes. Using some more leftover crust, I added two ears. Next I made the horns and teeth using sliced cheese. I just cut these using a knife. I then shaped a pieces of cucumber into a small circle and placed on the nose for the poisonous wart. Finally, I rolled two raisins into balls and added them to the eyes.
