About this deal

Vigor of the Hill Giant is one of several new feats in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants that branches off from the Strike of the Giants feat. That means a player must first get Strike of the Giants at level 4, then take feats like Vigor of the Hill Giant. The four Prehistoric Figurines of Wondrous Power can be a lot of fun in any D&D campaign setting, especially one with enough forests or jungles for dinosaurs to stomp around comfortably. These magic items may look like children's toys, but their power must be respected, since they can totally change the game. D&D has had figurines before, but certainly not on this power level. Some giants decide to shun their peers’ gods and turn to deities outside of societal norms, seeking power to defy their position in the ordning, a grave transgression against the ordning that results in social ostracism. Fee-fi-fo-fum! Among the various types of giants, including cloud giants, fire giants, frost giants, hill giants, stone giants, and storm giants, there exists a structured social hierarchy known as the ordning. Each giant is assigned a rank within this caste system, determining their social standing and relationships with others. Some giants dedicate their lives to excelling in the qualities valued by their society, seeking to rise within the ordning.

A D&D party might come across a tempest spirit and either slay it to end its suffering, or offer to help it reverse this dark transformation in return for favors. In other cases, a storm giant whom the players knew becomes a tempest spirit partway through a campaign, so the party must fight a monstrous version of a former friend. Editor's Note: On August 4, we became aware that an artist used AI to create artwork that appears in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants and that previously appeared in this article.Read our statement on the use of AI here. The gigant already ranks among the largest flying monsters found in all of Dungeons & Dragons, somehow rivaling even ancient dragons in sheer scale. It may seem unrealistic for an insect this big to properly fly, yet it can, and even giants fear it. According to the lore and art, gigants can casually seize hill giants like insectile eagles and make off with them. Doubtful, since that was for 1D&D. It's extremely unlikely that we're going to see any UA incorporated into the book beyond the giant-themed stuff from last year. Strike of the Giants' main advantage is not its sheer power, but the flexibility with its sub-options. Any character who takes this feat can choose one strike option, and use it once per turn at no cost of actions or bonus actions. Among those options, stone strike and cloud strike are standouts, the former pushing a monster 10 feet away and the latter turning this feat's user invisible.Armor of Safeguarding is a very rare magic item in Bigby Presents that requires attunement and can appear in a variety of armor types, such as ringed mail and splint. Aside from the normal AC bonus, Armor of Safeguarding boosts the wearer's HP by 10 plus their level, excellent for melee characters like fighters, barbarians, and paladins. Wizards of the Coast has worked hard to ensure no Giant encounter feels stereotypical or same-y. It’s clear these creatures are more than just lumbering behemoths, with no fate other than the end of an adventurer’s blade.

While they’re often viewed as heretical within the ordning, Evil Water giants will often keep their allegiance a secret and attempt to push their communities toward the behaviors that appease Olhydra’s lust for violence. For their service, Olhydra grants her giants the ability to breathe water, making them a threat on land as well as underwater. Bigby the Great recounts his journeys into the history, myth, and society of giants in this guide to their realms in the worlds of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Here Bigby and the demigod Diancastra, child of the giants’ All-Father, Annam, unveil the secrets of Annam’s mighty descendants. One of them is a free longer adventure, Lost Mine of Phandelver, L1-5, the others are "one-shot" adventures, intended to be played and completed in a single session. A skilled dungeon master could build an entire giant-themed campaign with these monsters and other resources in mind, in the same vein as Storm King's Thunder. Whether the DM modifies an existing campaign or homebrews a new one where giants shine in the spotlight, Glory of the Giants has the right monsters for the job. These monsters have it all, from intriguing lore and personalities to deadly and exciting gameplay stats and fantastic illustrations to bring them to life.Because of this, giants often do not pray to their progenitor but to his divine children and other hero-deities that constitute the giants' pantheon. The sons of Annam, representing each subsection of giantkind, hold significant positions among the religious beliefs of the various giant civilizations. Is that an earthquake? Or are massive footsteps approaching? Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsbrings a vast library of giant lore and character options to your game! This book follows the accounts of the prolific wizard Bigby and the knowledge he gained surrounding the giants’ roles in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Let’s explore what you can expect from this sourcebook and how this colossal amount of content will grow your games! Because the power of their runes allows frost giant ice shapers to easily ascend to leadership roles in their enclaves, there’s a great opportunity to use one as the larger threat among an already challenging group of giants.
