About this deal

The oddly shaped spray bottle is ergonomically a little funky, which could get annoying after extended use. The ceramic coating felt smoother than non-ceramics, but not as glossy as the Rain-X ceramic above. It also required a second cleaning cycle to achieve perfect clarity. You may have by now figured out I'm a huge fan of Rain-X products, and that's true. In the interest of full disclosure, I'll also tell you that I was provided this sample free in exchange for a true and unbiased review, good or bad. It was my good fortune to receive a product for review that I'm so familiar with and a fan of! WalMart (who provided the bottle for my review) had no way of knowing that I am a long-time Rain-X user, and very familiar with their product line.

Yes, this stuff cleans really well, but so does white vinegar and water. I don't see what the big de al is. It did a really nice job on my windscreen and headlights. I didn't realise how dirty my headlights had become. But - it took quite a bit of elbow grease, and removing it was a chore. Directions: Spray the product on the glass in small sections. Wipe away with a clean towel to remove dirt and grime. Wipe with the dry side of the towel to leave a streak-free water-beading coating. Allow at least an hour before exposure to rain or water. Enhance driving visibility during rain, sleet, snow or ice with RainX 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent. It provides a streak-free clean for automotive glass and prevents sleet, snow, ice, bugs and road spray from building up and inhibiting your view. Improved water beading technology allows water to bead up and roll away. Just spray onto external vehicle glass and wipe away. On to the ceramics: This Rain-X Cerami-X Glass Cleaner features the twin aspects you want in a ceramic glass cleaner. It lifts and removes dirt and grime while leaving behind a hydrophobic ceramic coating to repel water droplets.

Cleaning your vehicle's glass will greatly improve visibility; you might be surprised to see the difference after one good wipe-down. And of course, clear vision has safety benefits too. But there are a ton of glass cleaners on the market, so which one works best? Visibility will be your number one priority if applying a rain repellent to a car. In the same way that visibility is no.1 when applying some de-icer. After all, the sole job of a rain repellent is road safety, keeping water from congregating on your windscreen. A good rain repellent will see rain beading straight off the windscreen, leaving the road ahead clear. A poor rain repellent may, however, leave a smear on the glass, particularly in sunny or low-light conditions. This hampers visibility when it’s not raining and is a fairly irritating thing to deal with. Tested Ryan Gilmore: An absolute pain to apply, Gtechniq G1 requires a good half days’ worth of sunshine to properly cure on the car’s windscreen. With the British weather the way it is, the application was delayed on no less than two occasions owing to approaching rain. It’s best to have a garage or at least a gazebo if you’re planning to apply this. Not sure what product is right for you? Rain-X 5071268 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent, 23 oz., Pack of 1 Rain-X 5071268 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent, 23 oz., Pack of 1

Here’s the good news: this product does repel moisture. I dumped water on both sides of my windshield, and it’s easy to tell which side I treated. Tested Ryan Gilmore: Following the Gtechniq, using the Lotus was a real breath of fresh air. There was no need to prepare the glass or wait for it to cure, it was simply a case of spraying it on and wiping it up with a microfibre towel. The trigger was comfortable and delivered an even misting across the windscreen which was both easy to see and easy to wipe away using a microfibre towel. A small, barely visible film was left by the Lotus at first, easily removed with a touch more buffing. This concentrated formula will cut through grease and dirt from fingerprints, bug residue, tree sap and road grime enabling this to be easily be removed leaving a streak-free shine behind. Rain-X Automotive Glass Cleaner is also suitable for use on the interior glass for easy removal of fingerprints, smoke film or protectant over spray. Product Features While this may be a household favorite, its performance against car window grime was poor, especially when compared to the purpose-made competition. Many spots remained, and the glass felt grippy once dry. Tested Ryan Gilmore: A popular choice for an obvious reason, Rain-X combines cleaning and repellent at a temptingly low price. Another part of its appeal has to be the simple application process, there’s no need to buff or let the product cure, it simply needs wiping off once sprayed onto the glass. The 500ml bottle features an ergonomic trigger and delivered a neat and even misting of the product, which is wiped away without leaving any residue behind.

For the best bargain deal, the Rain-X Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent is the way to go. While this might seem like a ceramic glass cleaner, it isn't. However, it does act like it.

Tested Ryan Gilmore: Originally developed for use on motorcycle helmets, an area where there’s no wiper action to help shift water, Vision + needed to be a capable option for removing water. Now available in a larger size for cars, Vision + proved to be an outstanding option, offering excellent water beading and glass cleaning action, all from a spray that required no curing time and took a couple of seconds to apply. Of course after cleaning and prepping the glass with X-Treme Clean, I then apply Rain-X to the surface. I use both products on all exterior glass surfaces on my car- windshield, side windows, rear, sunroof- everything. It not only improves visibility dramatically in rain, but also helps prevent ice formation in winter. While ice will still form to the glass at times, it won't have the tenacity on treated glass that it will on untreated glass. Cleaning your car windows might seem like an afterthought—after all, that's what wiper blades are for, right? Sort of. While keeping the outside of your windshield clean and clear is essential, you shouldn't forget about the side windows, the rear window, and the inside of the glass all around the car. Primarily designed to clean and protect motorcycle helmets, Vision + from Autobrite Direct is our top choice for combining a glass cleaner with a hydrophobic layer of protection. Vision + promotes some serious water beading and is perfectly safe to apply to most translucent materials, including glass, acrylic and Perspex. However, be aware that you might need some extra effort as you wipe. We had to perform two spray-and-wipe cycles with some heavy-handed pressure to get true clarity. In the picture below, you can see some slight haze to the left side after the first cycle.

I figured I'd give the Rain-X X-Treme Clean Clear Surface Cleaner, a challenge and try it on my son' s old 2001 Neon. What a great surprise! The Clearvue rain repellent by Turtle Wax is not only suitable for your car's windscreen but also your motorcycle helmet visor and any exterior glass surface.

Glass Cleaner - Rain-X

This stuff contains Rain-X's famous water-beading technology found on its wiper blades. It's not a ceramic coating, but it's close. We were impressed by the dry feel and price point, but it took some extra time to eliminate all of the haze. If you live in an area with frequent rain, snow, or ice, you know how difficult seeing the road can be while driving. RainX helps repel water and is something I’ll use a lot during the winter months. But next time, I’ll clean my windshield with my homemade glass cleaner a day before using this. Use this product if you have a hard time seeing through rain and snow. But I recommend using a different product to clean your windshield before applying Rain X.A seriously impressive option for total windscreen protection, Gtechniq's G1 features an almost tediously long and complex application process. There are two stages to the application process, the G1 Smart Glass (which requires three layers for the best results) followed by a curing time and then some G2 Residue Remover. works great and easy to use. I just poured a little dab on a old towel, using circular motion worked it around and around on about half of the headlight. could see the discoloration disappearing as i used it. did the same for the other half and a nice shiny like-new headlight was there. A classic rain repellent, Rain-X is readily available and quite possibly the best-selling rain repellent range here in the UK. The big benefit to Rain-X is the ease of application. We wanted to add Windex to the fray because, why not? It's the most popular window cleaner on the planet. (For those considering it for automotive use, be advised that plain Windex contains ammonia and is NOT recommended for use on tinted windows.) Spray the product directly onto glass, one section at a time. 3. Wipe with a clean towel to remove dirt & grime.
