This manga focuses on the ways that humans can be petty and spiteful and cruel, and how parents can be neglectful and abusive to their children. The story mainly follows Shizuka, Marina, and Azuma--who all three have stressful situations at home which lead to varying degrees of unhappiness and rippling problems. One recurring theme is the idea of people living in denial. But that doesn’t take it down from being a great manga in my mind, and I’ll keep watch of anything the author releases from this point.Takopi is a great lens to view the series because as he's naive and doesn't know much about the world, seeing him change and develop to become less naive and more emotionally smart was great. He's also really supportive and kind. I wish I had a Takopi in my life. Cute little alien Takopi lands on Earth. What is his mission? To be taken to our leader? No. To spread happiness throughout the universe! The art for Takopi's Original Sin is very rough which really suits the kind of story being told here. It also allows for some really great expressions. When the characters cry (like the covers for instance), you really feel that shit. The art has a sort of dark tone to it as well which also really suits the series. It also looks really unique compared to other manga. I also really like the more simplistic style for Takopi which makes him stand out from the human characters. Anyway the art really propels this manga with how much it suits the story and I wouldn't have the art any other way.

Azuma is a surprisingly relatable character. His need to be recognized by his mother and being overshadowed by his older brother was played to the utmost extreme. Just enough to make me really feel for him. And his brother is amazing too. You expect him to be one note and just be a jerk but no he's just a good guy. And that was refreshing. And Azuma's speech about people having good and bad points and him having fun and being friends with Shizuka and Takopi was phenomenal. I can’t say much for obvious reasons, but I’ll say that when you think the manga has found its rhythm and settled for pay to progress its storyline, you’ll find that it will then go in a different direction, and this isn’t a complaint as it’ll be keeping you on your toes. Indeed, it’s clear from the start that Shizuka is the target of bullying with her only source of happiness being Chappy — her dog and loyal companion, given to her by her dad because he disappeared from her life — while her mom works as an escort and not seen at home during the day. With all the bullying and neglect she endures day by day, will the naive but well-intentioned Takopi manage to make her happy? Thoughts Takopi is, like, the epitome of blissful ignorance. And that ignorance is the source of most of the humor within the series, since Takopi doesn't really know what's going on and will sometimes misinterpret some pretty dark shit in idealistic ways. In a way, this manga is also a critique of surface-level distractions or attempts to pacify people that don't actually help fix the root problems. The ultimate moral of the story is that "talking brings happiness," though I'm not sure why the author felt the need to include an ultimate moralof any kind. Those are really all the characters I wanted to talk about. Takopi’s Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) is Tanzai 5‘s first serialized work, with them having previously worked on 3 One-Shots, one of them self-published, and the other two by Shounen Jump+. And I have to say this author started with a bang. Takopi เป็นเอเลี่ยนชาว Happian ที่อาศัยอยู่บนดาวชื่อ Happy Planet ซึ่งมีหน้าที่ต้องเดินทางออกจากบ้านเกิดเพื่อมอบความสุขให้กับสิ่งมีชีวิตในดาวต่าง ๆ บนระบบสุริยะจักรวาล โดย Takopi เลือกที่จะมุ่งหน้าสู่ ‘โลก’ และที่นั่นเอง Takopi ได้เจอกับเด็กหญิงชั้นประถมชื่อ Shizuka ผู้เศร้าโศกและดูเหมือนว่าชีวิตนี้จะไม่เคยมีความสุขเลย ตรงนั้นเอง ภารกิจสร้างความสุขของ Takopi ก็เริ่มต้นขึ้น Takopi’s Original Sin ทำเอาหดหู่อย่างมากหลังอ่านจบ-ในระดับที่เกือบจะเขียนคอลัมน์นี้ไม่ไหว ซึ่งถ้าจะให้อธิบายความรู้สึกของผมออกมาเป็นภาพ มันก็คงเหมือนกับกำลังเดินเข้าหาคมมีดเป็นพันเล่ม โดยที่ก่อนหน้านั้นดื่มยาพิษเข้าไปอึกใหญ่ โลกของมังงะเรื่องนี้เต็มไปด้วยความไม่น่าไว้ใจ ความกระอักกระอ่วน ความเจ็บปวด เกินกว่าจะหายใจได้อย่างเต็มปอดและรู้สึกปลอดภัยขณะที่อ่าน แต่ก็ต้องบอกว่า ‘ความสมจริง’ ที่ทำให้รู้สึกแย่นี้คือส่วนหนึ่งของข้อดี ที่ถูกวางเอาไว้เพื่อให้ตัวละครเติบโตไปพร้อมกับคนอ่านในตอนท้ายสุด โดยที่ถึงแม้จะมีความยาวเพียง 16 ตอน แต่หากตั้งใจอ่านจนจบผ่านไปได้ ผลลัพธ์ของบทสรุปในช่วงท้ายของเรื่องจะตอบแทนคุณ ด้วยสิ่งที่ผมขอยืนยันเลยว่าหาจากที่ไหนไม่ได้อีกแล้ว Takopi ก็คือ การที่เจ้าเอเลี่ยนตัวน้อยค่อย ๆ ตั้งคำถามถึงความหมายว่าจริง ๆ แล้ว ‘รอยยิ้ม’ ที่เราสร้างให้คนอื่น เป็นความสุขจริง ๆ โดยไม่เบียดเบียนคนอื่น ไม่ทำให้ใครต้องรู้สึกเจ็บปวดหรือหวาดกลัวใช่รึเปล่านะ? ในช่วงแรกของเรื่อง อะไรก็ตามที่ทำให้ Shizuka มีความสุข เขาก็จะทำสิ่งนั้นอย่างไม่ลืมหูลืมตา แม้แต่ความปราถนาที่รุนแรงที่สุดอย่างการทำให้ Marina หายไป ก็ไม่ใช่สิ่งสะเทือนใจหรือส่งผลอะไรเลยเพื่อให้ได้รอยยิ้มนั้นมา … Marina ผู้มีความแค้นอย่างแรงด้วยเรื่องส่วนตัว ในตรงที่แม่ของ Shizuka เป็นคนที่ทำให้บ้านของเธอต้องแตกแยก เพราะแม่ของ Shizuka ไปมีอะไรกับพ่อของเธอ ปล่อยให้แม่ของ Marina ต้องจมอยู่กับความโศกเศร้าและลงไม้ลงมือกับเธอแทนMarina is a huge bitch. She bullies Shizuka mercilessly and I thought,she has absolutely no chance for redemption. And when they showed why she does the things she does (of course this doesn't excuse her actions) I was not willing to sympathize with or forgive her. But then the series slowly made me sympathize with her. Especially high school Marina. You really get to see just how alone she truly is and how messed up her situation is. So when the series gave her a happy ending I was glad. Also when Takopi killed her I was like "DAMN I HATE HER BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THAT FAR."
