About this deal

Overall, this set up will segue nicely into the sequel, I am sure is coming, hopefully sooner, rather than later. Years later, as I add this to my goodreads, I couldn't remember the Title or Author of this book, but this haunting and horrific true story has stayed in my head.

House of Secrets by Chris Columbus, Ned Vizzini | Waterstones

The pacing is spot on, as secrets are revealed little by little, always squeezing an audible gasp of shock from me. What I will say is I stayed up way too late reading this book because I really wanted to know the answers to the mysteries. The book follows the three Walker family children as they attempt to find a secret book and rescue their parents in the process. But House of Secrets can get gory, too, with talk of live autopsies performed by the pirate captain, a couple of fatal stabbings, kids removing an arrow and stitching up the wound themselves, and an eyeball pierced by an arrow and then plucked out intact.A runaway named Rain Harper stumbled upon the House of Secrets and took up a position as an unwilling witness to the Juris trials, validating the judgments and either condemning the tried souls to imprisonment in the basement, or setting them free to live their life purged of their secret. The Patchwork Man, a character from the Swamp Thing ongoing series, was to have become an ongoing feature in the series, but only appeared in one issue. But after coming to in the hospital she realizes there are things going on, mysteries to solve, that have a lot to do with her father.

Not only that, but he refers to the people in this story (particularly the Sexton children) to their actual names, nicknames, and, when appropriate, their married names. The House of Secrets packs a brilliant mystery into a hair-raising conspiracy that will leave readers on the edge of their seats.

The House of Secrets by Brad Meltzer | Goodreads The House of Secrets by Brad Meltzer | Goodreads

The Benedict Arnold idea is brilliant, as is The House of Secrets angle, though I could not find myself as excited or curious as I have been with many of Meltzer's previous novels. Overall it was an intestesting study into family dynamics and how a father can control his wife and children and get them to do whatever he would like.On 1 October 2021, the trailer for the docuseries was released in YouTube, [12] and the three-part series released through Netflix on 8 October 2021.
