About this deal

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical found in some types of plastic. Research has shown that exposure to high levels of BPA can lead to obesity, hormonal imbalances, and uterine cancer, among other health complications. First, you want to make sure the sizing is right. Sports bra sizing can often be different to your regular bra sizing – and different sports bras are measured in different ways. Some use cup sizes, some use regular dress sizes and others use metrics like “small, medium and large”. Use the brand’s sizing chart as a rough guide, then consider taking your bust and ribcage measurements to cross-reference. Use a tape measure to do this, and ensure the tape measure is snug but not tight. The key difference between low impact sports bras and high impact ones lies in the design. High impact sports bras are specifically designed for high impact activities that require bounce and lots of movement, such as jumping, running and HIIT workouts. Low support sports bras, however, offer a softer support. They should not be worn for rigorous activities. Gymshark low impact sports bras Because every discipline and every athlete's body is different, our strappy sports bras come in a selection of support levels to match your needs. A thin strappy sports bra with light support makes an ideal option for low-impact activities, including Pilates or yoga. Getting ready for a tough circuit session or a long bike ride? Choose the extra control of a medium-support bra for bounce reduction and plenty of freedom to move. When it comes to your preferred shape, you can opt for unpadded styles for a natural outline or breathable padded cups for a smooth look.

Women with bigger breasts, who typically need more support, should keep an eye out for yoga bras with either molded cups or two designated cups. Two designated cups will help lift and stabilize, while molded cups provide built-in flexibility. Ladies of any size should look for molded cups that offer shaping and support. In May 2023, the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) announced that, after testing, it found high levels of BPA in certain activewear pieces containing blends of polyester and spandex, including sports bras from Sweaty Betty, leggings from Nike, Athleta, Champion, Patagonia, and Kohl’s, shorts from Champion, Nike, and Adidas, and athletic shirts from Fabletics. We may recommend some of these products or similar items from these brands in this list, as these products have not been recalled and the science on transdermal absorption of BPA is still not settled. Athleta’s Conscious Crop will protect you from sweat while keeping you completely covered. “You don't want anything that's going to soak up a lot of sweat and hold it. You don't want something that adds insulation, either, which could increase how hot you feel,” says Emily Welsh, owner and certified yoga instructor at Hot Yoga Louisville.Even bigger chested women don’t need high compression for yoga. Go for something with full coverage, rather than high compression. Focus on that wide bottom band,” Edwards says. Women with smaller chests are better suited for flexible, but supportive pull-on bras. Those cute, strappy designs bode well for these ladies. The best way to prevent BPA exposure is to make educated decisions in choosing your personal care products,” explains Joshua Zeichner, MD, associate professor of dermatology and director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a precaution, it is best to limit the amount of time you spend in activewear by changing out of it when you are finished working out. Styling a low impact sports bra is so easy. Many of our light support sports bras have matching leggings and make the perfect cute little set. Throw on a hoodie or sweatshirt to layer up. Or, you can pair your low impact sports bra with some joggers on those days you really want to chill out. Low impact sports bras are designed for less intense activities, such as yoga, Pilates, barre classes, lifting, and hiking. These are slower activities that won’t have a high impact on your breasts. Light support sports bras can be worn as part of your loungewear and on those days you just want to chill out and rest too. What is the difference between low impact sports bras and high impact sports bras?

Size range: Cup sizes B–J | Material: Polyamide, polyester, and elastane | Bra style: Encapsulation with three-row hook-and-eye closure Designed to be worn during low impact activities, a low support sports bra should be worn during workouts that don't involve lots of bounce or rigorous movement. A low impact sports bra has a more relaxed level of support than its mid- support and high- support counterparts. When should I wear a low support sports bra? For yoga in general, an underwire encapsulation style bra won’t be comfortable, or necessary. Underwires are great for supporting larger chested women but are typically found in bras designed for high-impact activities, with compression to reduce bounce."A yoga bra shouldn't be too compressive,” says Daly. “Anything for yoga is going to be light and flowy. Low-impact bras are typically designed for yoga. High-impact ones are better suited for running and training.” Size range: XXS–6XL | Material: Recycled polyester and spandex | Bra style: Compression with built-in support band
