About this deal

This is the medium Zoozone Hamster Cage which comes in pink and blue. It measures 72 x 46 x 20 cm which is slighter smaller and only really suitable for dwarf hamsters really. If you can stretch to it, go for the large, unless you want to use it as a temporary hamster cage for transportation. This one weighs 8.6 Kilograms which is also slightly heavier than the large. Heat mats are an inexpensive way of providing heat for a hedgehog. We use one and have placed the heat mat with his house on top, so he can sleep in his house all warm and snug. has low running costs with approximately 25 watts an hour in electricity costs, resulting in pennies to run. Whilst we do not have any other pets, a plastic cage like a Zoozone provides protection from any attempts at intrusion, with the grill securely protecting the hedgehog from any unwelcome guests. In fact, during the colder months, we don’t use this room ourselves as it’s too cold for even us to sit or lounge around. So, for a hedgehog, it would be a dangerous room for them to reside in.

While Dwarf hamsters are more sociable than Syrian hamsters, and can often enjoy sharing a home, it’s important to note that groups must be formed early in their lives, and you should be prepared to house your pets separately if they don’t get on well together.

Using plastic storage tubs, such as the clear variety or even the non-clear variety is a cheaper way to provide somewhere for hedgehogs to live. A slightly less kitted-out version of its Hamster Heaven, this Sky Metro by Savic is a great option if you’re looking for an affordable home for your Syrian hamster. Despite its reasonable price, the cage still comes equipped with a wheel, tunnel and platform to keep your little friend entertained. The Sky Metro also comes furnished with a water bottle, food bowl and a cosy igloo for your hamster to sleep in, so you needn’t worry about acquiring the essentials separately.

Hamsters have long been a popular pet among both adults and children. And though it may seem that your choice of cage is less important than keeping your beloved pet fed and stopping it from escaping, many cages are not designed to last, are too small, or have other glaring faults. They could end up falling off the ramps and injuring themselves. Hedgehogs do not have the feet capable of holding onto or grasping the ramps, so they end up falling off quite easily if they mistakenly believe the edge of the ramp had additional space beyond it. Blue Cross state that ideally Syrian hamsters should have 4,000cm2 floor space in their cage. We advise that Blue Cross’ guidelines should be used as the benchmark for space, so aim for a cage with floor dimensions of at least 75cm by 40cm. As dwarf hamsters are smaller, they can comfortably live in smaller cages. According to Blue Cross, their cages should have a minimum of 1,800cm2 floor space, but ideally they should have more. We recommend aiming for 3,000cm2 floor space as this should ensure they live happy lives. The Zoozone cage not only has high sides but these sides are quite slippery so it is very difficult for a hedgehog to be able to stand up against the sides and this is great in teaching the hedgehog to eventually learn there’s little point in trying to stand against the side of the cage as they will simply fall to the side.

Many people find wire cages seem to have a lot of floor space compared to other types of cages and this is great for the well-being of any hedgehog. However, this must be offset against safety and we did not feel comfortable having a cage where our hedgehog could easily get their feet trapped in the wire grill. Plastic Cages One thing worth noting is the Zoozone doesn’t come pre-equipped with additional accessories such as wheel and house. However, because it gives your hamster so much space at such an affordable price, it should still be cheaper and more spacious than many rivals once fully equipped. Despite this large number of accessories, the cage is surprisingly easy to assemble, so we’re sure you’ll like the cage almost as much as your beloved hamster. Many cages that come pre-equipped with items sacrifice vital open space for your hamster, but we’re happy to report that this isn’t the case here. Although the hamster Heaven comes wonderfully equipped, there is still ample space for your hamster to stretch its legs. You can keep hedgehogs in a cage, and it is vitally important to make sure the right cage is chosen. Incorrect cage choices can end up causing problems, leading to their health and mental wellbeing suffering.

has a compatible heat mat cover available that is easy to remove for cleaning, is sturdy for the hedgehog to use and provides a layer of protection from the heat mat itself. The only con here really is it doesn’t come pre-equipped with all the items your hamster will need. Coupled with the already high asking price, and the Maxi Multy certainly represents a considerable investment. Considering it will provide any hamster with the perfect home, however, we’d say that’s an investment worth making. The bottom plastic part of a cage is known as the pan and the deeper this is, that is, the height from the floor to where the plastic ends, the less chance the hedgehog has of climbing out, thereby protecting them from any attempts at escape. Key specs – Accessories: Water bottle, food bowls, wheel, house, tunnels, platforms, slides, toilet; Dimensions: L80cm x W50cm x H50cm; Total floor space: 4,000cm2; Weight: 5.5 Kg We struggled finding a plastic tub large enough for our hedgehog to use as a bath and getting one that was big enough was difficult. We did even look at a child’s plastic bathtub with some of these being 4 feet long (120 cm) by 2 feet wide (60 cm) with a depth of 2 feet (60 cm) but felt a cage was better, as it wouldn’t look too out of ordinary compared to a bathtub.
