This stitch is useful, especially if you want to fill broad stems. The weaves come out beautifully making it an interesting stitch to do, especially with threads like Perle cotton or silk. The curves take on easily, but not too sharp curves. Traditionally, most hampers are wrapped in a clear cellophane so that you can see a bit of what's inside and tied with a bow or ribbon. The bottom of the basket would usually have a layer of shredded paper or raffia that your gifts get nestled into and arranged on to make a pretty display. The great thing about making hampers is that there are no hard and fast rules, so you can do whatever you like to make your hamper as special and unique as the person you are gifting it to. Knit with 4 strands of bulky yarn held together this is a fast stash-busting project. 18 cm/ 7″ diameter across the base. Designed by Bonny Bonafilla

Fig 3: Now, we continue with doing diagonal stitches between the stitch lines, each one parallel to the earlier ones. So, take the needle in through F and out through G, as shown. E-F is parallel to A-B. Creating a Christmas hamper for a child is so much fun. You don't have to go crazy and break the bank buying them tons of presents to put inside, for them a lot of the excitement is in the unwrapping and discovering what's hidden in the hamper. Adding a lot of little bits, fun trinkets and treats that will keep them busy is a great way to fill the hamper. Adorable basket with dog face knit flat in garter stitch. Perfect for kid's toys, dog toys, or everyday items. Size Basket measures about 10" [25.5 cm] high, 12" [30.5 cm] wide and 36" [91.5 cm] circumference. Bulky weight yarn. Designed by Heather Lodinsky for Yarnspirations. Three sizes of striped baskets with optional handles. Large basket measures about 14” [35.5 cm] tall, Medium about 10½” [26.5 cm] tall, and Small about 7½” [19 cm] tall. Designed by Heather Lodinsky for Red Heart.

Step Eight: Now we’re going to join the printed cotton piece with the canvas piece. Find the seam on each tube and match them up so that the right sides of each piece are facing each other. Pin together. The mosiac colorwork of this basket is easy to knit because you only use one color at a time and makes the basket sturdier. Line with plastic to help hold the shape. Designed by Margie Dougherty. Pictured project by elcarnes
