About this deal

The Trumpeter brand has a complete offer of models of international aircraft carriers and cruisers for lovers and enthusiasts of modeling. All you need to know about Trumpeter Who is the trumpeter manufacturer? HMS Belfast was at war within weeks of being commissioned into the Royal Navy, but with the end of the Korean War in 1953, her future was in doubt. In 1955 the decision was taken to modernise HMS Belfast. She was rebuilt between 1956 and 1959 and gained new anti-aircraft weapons, new masts, and a new fully enclosed bridge.Belfast’s two final foreign commissions involved a whistle-stop tour of the world’s great ports – ending with a remarkable circumnavigation of the globe, taking in Guam, Hawaii, San Francisco, Seattle, British Columbia, the Panama Canal and Trinidad. Belfast arrived in Singapore at the end of December 1959, and spent most of 1960 at sea on exercise, calling at ports in Hong Kong, Borneo, India, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), Australia, the Philippines and Japan. Belfast is presented in the now-standard Trumpeter hull layout; two halves, split down the centerline. These halves are strengthened by the addition of a series of seven internal bulkheads. In what also appears to be an aspect of the new standard, there are no waterline options designed into the kit.

On 29 November 2011, two workmen suffered minor injuries after a section of gangway, connected to the ship, collapsed during renovation works. [94] The ship was closed to visitors following the accident. [95] An investigation later established that the collapse of the gangway had been caused by a subcontractor cutting through the gangway's structure during refurbishment work. [96] Belfast re-opened on 18 May 2012. [97] After many years, there is finally a WW2 Royal Navy cruiser in 1/350! This HMS Belfast is a welcome addition to Trumpeter's lineup, and to the available kits on the market. While an earlier Town-class cruiser would require a different hull and 6" turrets, it is hopeful that Belfast is the introduction to the great bounty of Royal Navy cruiser subjects from this time period. However, like many Trumpeter kits, Belfast also suffers from inconsistent research. While the kit is marketed as a "1942", it is closer to a 1943 fit. Certainly, it can be argued this kit is very similar to Belfast's appearance and fit at the sinking of Scharnhorst during the Battle of the North Cape. While HMS Belfast is Trumpeter's most expensive cruiser to date, costing 40% more than the 1/350 USS Indianapolis, but having a smaller parts count, the amount of errors is greater than expected. a b "RNARS London Group GB2RN HMS Belfast". The Scharnhorst was one of Nazi Germany's last great battleships and one of the best-known fighting ships of the Second World War. The Admiralty had been conscious for some time of the threat posed by the Scharnhorst to the Arctic Convoys and to other merchant and naval ships in northern waters. They had been watching carefully for an opportunity to engage the Scharnhorst, draw it into battle and sink it. Although they differ, both the WEM funnels and our Model Monkey funnels will provide the modeler with very noticeable improvements over the plastic Trumpeter kits' parts. Also, these barrels are not slide molded, and thus do not have open muzzles. The turret shapes look ok, but the sides have some irregularities, along with some flash.
