About this deal

MCACC PRO analyses the sound field of your speakers and automatically adjusts their virtual size, level, distance and response, as well as the equaliser settings for an excellent audio response. MCACC PRO offers full support of the Dolby Atmos surround format. As a low-cost AV receiver, the VSX-930 gets a lot of things right. Dolby Atmos support is welcome, and this seven-channel design makes setup in that regard simple – just wire up your speakers and the receiver makes the magic happen. And there is magic here in the way it handles multichannel mixes with pin-sharp precision. But there are flies in the AV ointment, too. too long affordable receivers have been supplied with button-heavy zappers that are simply too confusing for their target audience.

The VSX930 is, on the outside at least, a carbon copy of the looks you could have seen from many of their AV receivers of old. With the same casing design, and relatively unchanged input selector and volume knob size; but it always comes down to the guts of an AV system to find where the critical differences lie. On top, this AV receiver is ready to pass through 4K Ultra HD video signals to a compatible display. It even upscales lower resolution signals into 4K Ultra HD (up to 60p), allowing you to enjoy the highest quality picture available today. The ambience of the jungle is well-crafted, the alien's idiosyncratic noises resonant in the soundfield and the AVR's robust mid-range delivery works wonders with

What Makes Us Different?

There’s a lot less going on in the Video menu, but don’t ignore it. Here, the amp offers in-built 4K upscaling, which is set to be automatically employed. I’d suggest experimenting with is – I found switching the ‘Scaling’ feature to ‘Pure’ rather than ‘Auto’ resulted in a more natural image via my Samsung 4K display, with the Pioneer imparting unwanted pixel information around edges, particularly noticeable (albeit from close quarters) during shots of green-shirted SEALs standing against clear blue skies. Conjuring an AV conundrum

It also supports the FlareConnect standard (as do AVRs from stablemate Onkyo). You may not have heard of FlareConnect. Pioneer offers its own MRX-5 and MRX-3 speakers, and says 'other brands will be offering FlareConnect in the If received, our Pioneer experts diagnose your Audio Hi-Fi Equipment, proceed and fix your Audio Hi-Fi Equipment Amplifier once the repair cost is confirmed. Speaker binding posts are of a decent enough quality for a receiver at this price point. The VSX-930 is designed to be an affordable home theatre solution, as such there are no pre-outs for connection to external amplifiers. Like its predecessor, the VSX-932 is a 7.1 channel AVR. It can power two front speakers, a centre speaker, and four rear speakers. Alternatively, two front speakers, a centre speaker, two rear speakers and two overhead speakers for Dolby Atmos/DTS: X.There's also Apple AirPlay, and a level of integration for those with Sonos Connect hardware. Pioneer's Remote App, meanwhile, introduces Tidal, Deezer and Spotify streaming services. I have an optical cable too that I have tried in various combinations – Sky to AV receiver, TV to AV receiver, TV to Sky, all without any success. If you’re new to setting up a complex system such as this, they have made this easy for all by including the latest version of their MCACC (Multi Channel Acoustic Calibration) Pro system microphone that pinpoints your exact position in the room and will setup the speakers to work for you in the most optimal way. Easy right? Multizone support includes the ability to run HD audio and video to a second room. There are dual subwoofer pre-outs, should your cinema have a twin bass rig.
