About this deal

my first impressions were positive and having now spent some good birding hours with them I'm ready to write down my thoughts. up for by their excellent optical qualities and superlative comfort. I was most impressed by the Viking Kestrel ED binoculars I reviewed earlier this year It's no surprise then to find the Viking Peregrine ED is the most expensive of the three models, so in my latest review I'll be taking a look at whether it can live up to its namesake. At the start of 2018, Viking's range of binoculars had a bit of a shake up. A few of their older models were discontinued and a new selection introduced, including the Kestrel ED range. Available in 8x32, 8x42 and 10x42,

Kestrel ED - Viking Optical

The accessories don't make the same first impression the binoculars do, but are perfectly adequate. Viking have updated their presentation box which is nice, inside you will find a soft case with it's own strap already attached, The colour of the overall image is neutral in tone yet vibrant, making them a pleasure to use even just to watch the blue and great tits on the feeders. I reluctantly gave the Peregrine ED binoculars a 7 for build quality as I feel the eyecups are inferior to those on similarly priced binoculars, but that's one minor niggle that is more than madeslender body, they also allow for a very firm grip on the barrels, which themselves have slight thumb indents on the under side. They are very balanced in the hand and the focus wheel is in a natural position for the index finger Viking Optical have been manufacturing premium optics for over 30 years and are the brand who make RSPB Binoculars. We are huge fans of Viking at liGo with two of their models taking the top spot on our list of Best Buy Binoculars: Along with Viking's flagship Peregrine range, the Kestrel family forms part of a line-up of products named after sharp-eyed falcons. This group comprises three models, 8x32, 8x42 and 10x42, from which I chose to use the popular 8x42 throughout most of spring. Kestrel, merlin and peregrine... all birds of prey, and all names of Viking binoculars. We might all have our favourite, but I'd think we can all agree the peregrine sits top of the podium for its physical prowess and unrivalled speed. The Viking Kestrel ED binoculars offer an extremely high-performance at a cost-effective price. These binoculars have become so popular that they are our Best Buy of 2022. The combination of powerful optics with a superior build design really helps the Kestrel ED stand out from the crowd. The level of quality certainly makes these a favourite amongst birdwatchers out there.

Both the 10x42 and 10x50 binoculars will deliver fantastic results and are suitable for all occasions. Deciding which option is the right choice for you comes down to what you plan on using these binoculars for. The two different binoculars provide the same design features and general performance providing they are from the same product range. This lightweight build design makes the Viking Kestrel ED the perfect traveling companion. This also ensures that the binoculars feel comfortable to hold and use. This is especially important for those long days observing wildlife. For example, the Viking Kestrel ED 8x42 binoculars weigh in at only 629 grams. This size will vary depending on which variation of the model that you choose. Reviewing how effective the binocular's optics perform is crucial. This is certainly the most important factor when it comes to deciding which binoculars are right for you. The Viking Kestrel ED binoculars thankfully deliver in a big way. These binoculars will provide you with crystal-clear results at all times. This is testament to the incredibly high standard that Viking have established for their products.

a decent level of comfort in use. I'd suggest a Viking Lens Cleaning Kit may make a good addition to these binoculars, a better cleaning cloth for one will help and the brush and lens cleaning fluid will help keep your optics
