The Federal Bureau of Investigation agrees to assist L since some people believed that Kira killed some American criminals. After Kira kills several agents, the FBI withdraws its assistance. [18] Raye Penber [ edit ] Raye Penber as portrayed in the anime. Voiced by: Hideo Ishikawa(Japanese); Michael Adamthwaite (English) Reiji Namikawa is the Vice President of Sales, and the youngest member of the eight. He initially encourages the Yotsuba Kira. After receiving a telephone call from Light he ceases participation and observes the scenario. He is described as the most talented of the board members who has the potential to make it to the top without Kira, and that he detests useless subordinates. [24] He has a talent in shogi at the professional 4-dan level. [29] Eiichi Takahashi ( 鷹橋 鋭一, Takahashi Eiichi ) Voiced by: Rintarō Nishi(Japanese); David Orth (English) Associates of L Lawliet [ edit ] Aiber [ edit ] Voiced by: Takuya Kirimoto(Japanese); David Orth (English) A brilliant premise that kept me thoroughly engaged till chapter 59. The later parts are much the same as the first arc, just more over the top and slower and made the average for the whole series lower than I initially had expected based on the excellent 10+ first chapters.

Shiori Akino ( 秋野 詩織, Akino Shiori ) is portrayed by Yuu Kashii. She is Light's girlfriend, classmate at To-Oh University ( 東応大学, Tōō Daigaku), [36] and childhood friend. Shiori dreams of working in law enforcement and feels some envy stemming from Light's abilities. Shiori disagrees with Kira's methods, stating that she does not like the terror they incite; she believes that the law should judge criminals. Shiori argues with the "pro-Kira" Light, unaware of the fact that Light is Kira. [37] Light writes Shiori's name and the name of Naomi Misora in the Death Note, arranging the scenario to make it look like Naomi killed Shiori in a botched kidnapping scenario trying to expose Kira. Despite doing so, Light still express some remorse and sadness for using the Death Note to kill Shiori. It contains all of the original 108 chapters of the series. It also contains the Death Note One-Shot Special chapter, which is the chapter's first reprint since it was originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump, and it is the first time the chapter is published in English.

there is no doubt about the impact this manga has had in the last two decades. From various adaptations to derivative works that it spawned, till this day it stands as one of the unique offerings in this genre that very cleverly adapts a myth, crime and morality through out its run.

The volume was well-received, with many reviewers joking that it is big enough to actually kill someone with it. "Forget having your name written in the deadly notebook; this Death Note could prove lethal if someone dropped it on your head." [1] International releases [ ] Language Not only is this a story that challenges you intellectually, it also challenges you ethically and philosophically. Light's goal is to change the world by killing off society's bad elements. But in his quest for complete peace, is it okay to kill the good people who seek to stop him? If these people are trying to prevent Utopia, doesn't that make them evil? In wars, casualties are always going to occur. But doesn't the death of a few justify saving the lives of the many? That's one of the many questions that Ohba poses, one that cannot be answered easily. Rem – Disintegrated when she wrote L's name in her Death Note to protect Misa because of Light's plan. Death Note All-in-One Edition (DEATH NOTE 完全収録版, Death Note Kanzen Shuuroku Han, lit. Death Note Complete Collection Edition) is a massive omnibus volume reprint of the Death Note manga series. From Christian perspective Light's character reminds me the exact metaphor of the Devil/accuser/Lucifer(light-bearer). He wants to play God and pass judgement on people by himself. For me the main message of the whole book is “Judge not, lest you be judged” (Matthew 7:1)Hirokazu Ukita ( 宇生田 広数, Ukita Hirokazu) is a member of the Kira investigation team that is led by L. He is characterized as a brave young man who is also a chronic smoker. [11] When Misa has Sakura TV ( さくらTV) broadcast a message from her as Kira, Ukita rushes to the station to stop the broadcast without any prompting by the rest of the team. Since Misa has the Shinigami Eyes, she kills Ukita as soon as he approaches the door. In this complete collection of Death Note short stories penned by the series’ creators, discover tales of lives irrevocably changed by the sinister influence of the Death Note, with surprising and thrilling answers to the question of what it truly takes to use the Death Note…or fight it. For those of you who don’t know, Death Note is a manga series created by the now-famous duo Tsugumi Ohba (the writer) and Takeshi Obata (the artist). The manga series has its run from 2003-2006; it is their first collaboration, and it’s what made them became one of the most highly acclaimed duos in the industry. Death Note’s genre, in general, can be stated as thriller and mystery with a touch of the fantasy element, but this doesn’t mean that this series will appeal exclusively to the fans of the genres. Unlike novels, from my experience, manga usually needs a few volumes for the story to get going; if you’re really expecting to be impressed by the first volume, the majority of manga will probably disappoint you. That said, Death Note is one of the few rare cases where it managed to grab my attention immediately right from the first chapter for its originality and simplicity concept.

Mays, Jonathan (May 9, 2006). "Death Note, XXXHOLiC Novels in the Works". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on November 13, 2006 . Retrieved December 7, 2006.Tokie Mikami - Accidentally killed when four students drove their car into a light pole, mentioned. I loved how it explored what is righteous or not. The characters were great and some very unique. Ryuk was one of my favorites and I loved the art work of them all. An incredible bargain at a fraction of the shelf space: less than half the price of all 12 individual volumes. Near the end of the episode "Decision" it's mentioned that "two weeks worth of criminals all died at once". Since there's no specific number and no way to calculate how many that could be dead at the minimum, they won't be counted.

Death Note, a twelve-volume series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, is one of the most complex, well-thought-out, and utterly mindbending stories I have ever read. Truly, Ohba must be of some genius-level intellect to have crafted this tale. The way he displays the thought processes of Light and L, the world-class detective charged with Light's capture, is utterly astounding. The method by which each one of them develops their plans, anticipates the other's plan, and formulates a counterplan... it's mind boggling. And it also makes for a great, great read.
