About this deal

Divide the players into 2 teams. It doesn't matter if one team has one more player than the other. In turn, each player on a team acts out 4 words while his/her teammates try to guess them. Game Show Host: Todd Newton, best known as the host of Whammy! and Hollywood Showdown on GSN. It gave him his first "Best Game Show Host" Emmy following Season 2. In 2008, Parker Brothers & Hasbro re-released this excellent game of charades from 1990. Guesstures needs very little explanation beyond “charades with a timer” but that would just gloss the surface and would fail to capture some of the things that makes this version of charades Major Fun. You may use classic charade gestures such as pulling your ear for “sounds like” and tapping your arm with your fingers to show how many syllables the word has. Most mini-games in Cranium are divided into two rounds, first for the children and second for the adults. Point values are doubled for the adults' rounds.

Try a new way to play Guesstures! Instead of dividing into teams, take turns being Actors while the rest of the players all shout out their guesses.

The timing device is especially effective because not only does it mark the end of the round, it also dishes out the “punishment” for a player who takes too long. No one needs to watch the timer. If the card is there, you can try to grab it. If it’s not you gotta move on. Rounds are very fast which gives everyone time to play.

The cards drop into the timer one by one. You only get a few seconds to act out each word before its card gets swallowed. Your team gets points only for the cards they guess and you grab! One former variant of Guesstures Free Fall alloted 30 seconds for each performing team member. The youngest child's words were worth 10 points each, the older child's 20 and the adult's 30. The first variant of Cranium Star Performer is divided into four rounds, with point values of 10-20-30-40 apiece respectively. If the Mimer-Timer swallows your card before your teammates guess the word (or before you can grab it), hurry on to the next word! The rules used for the acted charades are usually informal and vary widely, but commonly agree in essence with the basic rules: Each card that was guessed correctly and grabbed before the timer, gets set aside in a pile for that team to be added when the game is over. The timer is the most obvious device of the game so let’s start there. Shaped like a clapperboard that you associate with directors marking the beginning of a scene, the Guesstures timer is hand-wound and holds 4 cards along the top. The cards are words the player is trying to get his or her team to guess. The player starts a round of play by snapping the timer closed (“ Guesstures, scene one, take two!”) This starts the timer. As the timer winds down, the cards drop out of sight. The player tries to get his or her teammates to guess the word before it drops out of reach. When the timer has run out (about 15 seconds) the team keeps any cards they guessed correctly.

The game also comes with a Best Performance Trophy. Any player can earn the trophy if they get their team to correctly guess all four cards AND at least two of the cards are hard. The trophy will move around a lot. Whatever team has the trophy at the end of the game receives 2 extra points. It might not be worth many points but it is very satisfying to win it away from your opponents. Guesstures has been around for over 30 years! It has gained so much popularity that there is even a giant version of the game played by celebrities on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”! Similar to Catch Phrase and Charades, players will divide into two teams and take turns acting out words, but there is a twist! Each word acted out is placed on a timer; if your team does not guess the word in time, the timer will eat the card, making it no longer available to your team! Spin-Off: Scrabble Flash was removed from the game rotation for Season 2, mainly because it got moved to Scrabble Showdown. If the team guesses the word or phrase correctly, they earn a point. If they don't guess it correctly or run out of time, no point is earned. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Number of players: 4+ (There is no official limit to how many people can play, but it’s suggested to play with no more than 12 people total) Connect Four Basketball: ...With the "pieces" replaced by balls that are thrown into the chutes on top. The first produced episode featured a slightly different variant where players from both teams shot their balls at the same time; three rounds were played and the team winning two rounds won the game. In Season 5, celebrity team members wore purple shirts bearing a big FGN logo and a gold star on the front.

One player from the team takes a card and has a limited amount of time (usually 1 minute) to act out the words or phrases on the card. The other players on the team must try to guess the words or phrases before the time runs out. Act out the words, starting from Easy to Hard. Do NOT skip over any words. Rules for Guessturing are found in the HOW TO GUESSTURE box in the center column. Remember, the opposing team doesn't guess. They only guess when their Actors are Guessturing. Operation Sam Dunk: A skee-ball game with Sam's cavities as the holes, and a bell target for double points. Season 3 onwards: The family gets one roll at the beginning and can earn up to three more by removing pieces from the parent's body. Replaced "Relay" after Season 1.Twister Lights Out: ...With the dots on a video board on the floor. Dots begin to disappear as play goes on, and the last member standing wins the round for their family. Combination of Twister and Lights Out, the latter an electronic game by Hasbro subsidiary Tiger Electronics. Why We Love It: Guesstures adds extra excitement to your usual game of charades by adding a timer that snatches cards as you try to have your team guess them! What You’ll Need to Play Guesstures You may select any combination of 1-point and 3- point words (two 1-point words and two 3-point words, etc).. The 3-point words are more difficult to act out and will consume more of those precious seconds! The guessers attempt to guess the words or phrases based on the actor’s performance. They can ask questions, to which the actor may give non-verbal responses, such as nodding in affirmation
