Well, for six mana, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, is a 6/6 that lets you have an additional combat phase whenever you play a land. This is the comprehensive guide to playing the Draconic Rage precon, commanded by This guide contains all the information needed to ride Draconic Rage to victory straight out of the box! Incidentally, one difference between Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient and Grand Warlord Radha is that you're allowed to add the mana in any combination of colors instead of red and green. These are the cards I dropped in favour of these changes: Chameleon Colossus, Druid of Purification , Vengeful Ancestor , Wulfgar of Icewind Dale , Earth-Cult Elemental , Savage Ventmaw , Rile , Wild Endeavor , Decree of Savagery , Sword of Hours , Heirloom Blade and Indomitable Might . This might also be the sort of deck where cards like Crackle with Power and Pest Infestation might shine. If you cast Chaos Dragon on curve, the downsides won't be relevant until you've gotten more than enough value out of him. Unleash a traditional foil Karazikar on your opponents with Planar Portal and add to your collection an infernal character who will surely understand you desire—Lorcan, Warlock Collector. Colossal Majesty requires a board presence for it to draw a card, but Outpost Siege guarantees a card, and the “Dragons” mode of the card is one the deck will choose frequently, since it can trigger Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients ’s Enrage ability multiple times. Wulfgar of Icewind Dale gives us a commander where “attack triggers matter,” which is narrow and niche enough to be cool and off the beaten path. Unsurprisingly Klauth’s Will goes great in a deck with Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient, but any deck that can generate a bunch of mana can get a lot of mileage out of this deck if your creatures mostly fly or have high toughness.

Chaos Dragon is also a perfectly respectable card to add to a Dragon deck or other aggressive red deck.

Scourge of Valkas is the ultimate Dragon payoff, and only requires a few dragons in play before it can start destroying players’ life totals. Get a traditional foil Klauth on your side with Draconic Rage and you’ll also find a nonfoil Wulfgar of Icewind Dale—famous friend of Drizzt Do’Urden and wielder of the magical warhammer, Aegis-fang. Vrondiss brings back the enrage mechanic first seen on Ixalan, by stating on the card that whenever damage is dealt to them, they create a big dragon spirit token – the downside of course is that the dragon spirit sacrifices itself when it, in turn, does damage to anything else. Even though it’s a cool mechanic to have built into your commander, there doesn’t seem to be enough pay-off for it in the deck out of the box. As such, we're letting you know that we've updated our Privacy Policy to reflect the new rule set forth by the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Let’s not forget the fact that Vrondiss makes some impressively sized token creatures—whopping 5/4 Dragon Spirits! Note that this is any damage, so if you decide to play that Warstorm Surge included in the deck, it's still going to evaporate like my hopes of ever seeing my ex again after I took her to see Sonic the Hedgehog in theaters. The median result will be to ramp you by two basic lands and put two 3/3 creatures on the battlefield, and if you have dice-rolling synergies or token creature synergies, even the dreaded double one roll can still squeak out value. Even if you only connect twice, that's still stronger than your typical Lava Axe, and if you're playing Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, you're laughing. Draconic Rage is a clunky but powerful deck that can really pick up steam in the midgame and quickly overwhelm the other players at the table. It's comparable, or perhaps even rivaled by, Grand Warlord Radha, who cares more about the number of attacking creatures instead of their power. Garruk’s Uprising works perfectly with Vrondiss, and granting trample means dealing extra damage by eliminating the possibility of chump blocking from opponents.
