About this deal

In addition to eating green-colored foods that provide chlorophyll, there are also supplements that provide the beneficial properties of the plant pigment. Supplements and recommended doses include the following:

Sigler ML, et al. (2015). Assessment of the safety and efficacy of topical copper chlorophyllin in women with photodamaged facial skin. A 2014 study conducted by the Department of Experimental Medical Science at Lund University in Sweden found that chlorophyll supplements taken along with a high-carbohydrate meal decreased feelings of hunger, elevated cholecystokinin levels and helped prevent hypoglycemia in overweight women. The manufacturer recommends that adults and children over the age of twelve take two softgels 1-2 times daily. If you do not find two softgels to be effective, they recommend taking an additional two softgels but not to exceed six softgels a day.

References Chlorophyll possesses an amazing range of benefits and is readily available to everyone. Chlorophyll rich foods are also healthy in their own right and contain essential vitamins and nutrients required for cardiovascular, muscular, and neural health. Consume foods containing chlorophyll or take a dietary supplement for best effect. Blue-green algae is one of my favorites. Wheatgrass, alfalfa, and leafy green vegetables like spinach also contain high levels of chlorophyll. You can also take it as a supplement in powder, drop, capsule, or juice form. One interaction to keep in mind is that certain medications that increase sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitizing drugs) can interact with chlorophyll. This means taking these medications along with chlorophyll can increase sensitivity to sunlight even more and make you susceptible to burns. This is especially important for people who consume high amounts of grains or legumes, such as those living in underdeveloped nations. This is in line with an old study from China where chlorophyllin consumption at each meal led to a 55 percent decrease in aflatoxin biomarkers compared to placebo. The small study done by Lund University observed 20 overweight females eating meals on three different occasions. The test meals consisted of a high-carbohydrate Swedish breakfast, taken with or without addition of chlorophyll in the form of thylakoids. There are two main forms of chlorophyll found in nature: chlorophyll-a and chlorophyll-b. There is a small difference between the two types, basically that each absorbs light from the sun at slightly different wavelengths.

Leafy green vegetables: Green veggies like kale, spinach and Swiss chard get their signature pigment from a high concentration of chlorophyll. Ideally, every day you should consume some variety of leafy greens as part of your recommended five to seven servings of vegetables, but if you find this difficult consider juicing greens instead. Other reports from the 1980s found that oral chlorophyllin seemed to reduce urinary and fecal odor in incontinent patients. Wound Treatment You may have heard a lot of buzz surrounding the healthiness of vegetables, especially leafy green vegetables with deep, rich color tones. In many ways, they're perfect foods and part of the credit is owed to the chlorophyll they contain. Chlorophyll is a green pigment that's instrumental in photosynthesis. It's what gives plants their green color. Research also suggests it's extremely beneficial for promoting good health. Benefits of Chlorophyll

Nano-encapsulated chlorophyllin significantly delays progression of lung cancer both in in vitro and in vivo models through activation of mitochondrial signaling cascades and drug-DNA interaction [Abstract]. Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology, 46, 147-157 Here are some of the top food sources to incorporate into your diet to experience all of the chlorophyll advantages. There are no significant risks of taking liquid chlorophyll. It has been taken safely as a dietary supplement for more than 50 years. However, some folks should pay attention to their intake.Young, R. W., & Beregi, J. S. (1980, January). Use of chlorophyllin in the care of geriatric patients [Abstract]. Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 28(1), 46–47 Chlorophyllin seems to slow the rate at which harmful bacteria reproduce, making it beneficial for wound healing and preventing infections. Since about the 1940s, cholorphyllin has been added to certain ointments used to heal persistent open wounds in humans, such as a vascular ulcer and pressure ulcer.
