Full-sized keyboards are the go-to for people who need to do lots of data entry and require frequent use of the number pad. Full-sized keyboards are standard in offices and is what most people think of when they imagine a keyboard. The full-sized keyboards come standard with a number pad, home cluster, function keys, and arrow keys. The number pad is typically located on the right, but some keyboards come with it on the left. mu:zines is the result of thousands of hours of effort, and will require many thousands more going forward to reach our goals of getting all this content online. This channel provides information of the Roland's best quality electronic musical instruments. Provides an overview of key features, functions and operational tips. Facebook keyboards take compactness to a whole new level. Instead of just getting rid of the number pad, these keyboards also drop the function row and the home cluster (on some layouts)! Who needs those extra keys anyways? This is the smallest keyboard size you can get that will still have arrow keys. Like 75% keyboards, 65% are less common but have a small fan-base in the keyboard community. You can find our favorite 65% keyboards through this link, you don’t want to miss this one. Smallest Size with Dedicated Arrow Keys: Great for GamingThere are 128 memories in which to save master-keyboard setups, though a Master Mode memory could be something as simple as just one Voice assigned to the whole keyboard. Used in this way, you can create your own little sub-set of the onboard Voice library for even easier access than when using the Category search option.

The S90 is generously provisioned with factory settings; 384 Preset Voices and 48 Drum Kits, 128 General MIDI Voices and one GM drum kit, and for the user, 128 Voice and 16 Drum Kit memories (the latter are filled with factory settings when you take delivery of the S90, but can be overwritten at any time). Factory preset Voices are sensibly assigned to different categories on the S90 (for example 'Acoustic Piano', 'Keyboard', 'Synth Lead', 'Drum/Percussion' and so on), and this is a habit you should consider forming as you program your own Voices. The S90 has a sophisticated search facility that lumps similar Voices together, and clearly labelled buttons allow you to access and audition related Voices via the display.

The buttons do share some attributes with mechanical hardware: they’re weighty and satisfying, with reasonable speed. As an added bonus, they’re quiet, too. The Razer Huntsman V2 Analog is a bold, high-end device that offers unparalleled customisation alongside high quality and a broad selection of features. It’s overkill for plenty of gamers and it won’t replace your gamepad, but this is the best keyboard around if you’d like unbeatable customisation and high-quality opto-mechanical typing. I have this amp for 24 years, it has never dropped nor disappointed. Just a little crunch but by manipulating the knobs, a small revision should it arranged.

The rest of the feature set is impressive. The K100 has dedicated media keys and macro buttons, and it’s got a volume roller and a multi-functional scroll wheel. Corsair bundles the K100 with a comfortable wrist-rest and two sets of replacement keycaps. And, as the name suggests, there’s plenty of RGB LED lighting beneath the keys and around the unit’s edges. Behind another panel, the optional PLG boards may be installed. Photo: Mark EwingUp to three PLG 'modular synthesis' boards can be mounted inside the S90, adding extra sound-making facities, increasing polyphony and upping the multitimbrality of the Seq Play Mix mode, not to mention expanding a Performance to up to seven parts. The current range is as follows: What about that front panel, and why has it only got 12 knobs? Keyboard amplifiers shouldn't add tonal colour to their inputs, in the way that guitar or bass amps emphasise treble or bass respectively. So the three channels on the Cobra 90 are provided with identical Gain, Bass, and Treble controls. The only dissimilarity between the three is that Channel One has slightly different impedance, which allows it to handle the higher peaks and transients of electric pianos. Otherwise, the K70 Core looks and feels good - I'm a big fan of the more refined yellow and triangular motifs that have appeared on recent Corsair releases, and that's reflected on the Core too with subtle details on the space bar and chassis. The aluminium case and 'floating' keycaps still look great, the magnetic soft-touch palm rest comes in handy and Corsair's iCUE software for setting custom lighting schemes or remapping keys remains one of the most powerful in the business. The only real shame is the non-detachable cable, which looks and feels cheap compared to the rest of the board.

If you want to get proficient typing with a 40% keyboard, you’ll have to get used to frequently changing layers to be able to enter numbers and symbols. This will require lots of time to get used to, but by doing so, you’ll save lots of space on your desk and have a light and compact keyboard to take on the go. Hard to Find The trade-off here is that you lose versatility thanks to no numberpad and no media controls. But if you need a fast, compact unit for competition – there are none better. The keyboard also supports 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C operation, making it suitable for a wide number of devices (though realistically you're not likely to be toting around a full-size mechanical keyboard to use on the go!). While plenty can be adjusted on the keyboard directly, Melgeek's Hive software is also available to remap keys etc and works very nicely for a boutique brand. The PLG100VH: a three-part vocal harmony board. This isn't a synth as such, but can be used with a vocalist singing into a mic plugged into the S90's audio input for real-time harmony generation.

Meet the SH-4d Synthesizer, a desktop powerhouse with hands-on workflow and deep synthesis tools for designing the sounds of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. BRIDGE CAST Photo: Mark Ewing Yamaha are nothing if not generous with the freebies they supply with their instruments these days, and the S90 is no exception. Central to the suite of software bundled with this instrument is the Voice Editor for S90 application (shown right), for both Mac and Windows, which provides detailed and graphical access to all Voice parameters, plus easy computer-based offlining of banks of your custom Voices. The only thing you can really moan about is that you can only load up the Voices from the User bank, and that it's not possible to edit Performances. File Utility is also cross-platform, allowing files to be sent to and extracted from a Smart Media card slotted in the S90. USB drivers for both platforms are also supplied, as are setup files that allow various mix parameters and transports of some popular MIDI sequencers, such as Cubase, Logic and Sonar, to be controlled from the S90. As channels 2 and 3 have a pair of inputs, the combo can potentially handle 5 instruments, assuming the extra two can make use of the existing EQ and gain settings. We tested the mixing of the two inputs on each channel and couldn't detect any tonal colouration arising from the mixing of two sources. S90 editing is via the standard combination of function and soft keys used in conjunction with the LCD, data wheel and Inc/Dec buttons (centre). Sounds are selected using the buttons on the right, while real-time control is afforded over them via the assignable sliders on the left. There is an 88-note instrument in the Motif range — the Motif 8 — and the S90 offers that instrument's Balanced Hammer Effect keyboard (itself based on the action supplied with Yamaha's dedicated digital pianos), but loses the Motif's sequencing and sampling functions. It does, however, retain the Motif's arpeggiator — more of a phrase generator than anything — and grows a number of new Voices and Performances based on the new waveforms. Mechanical hardware is speedier, more robust and with more movement, but that’s not necessarily achievable at this price, and the Cynosa is still a good device.
