About this deal

This baby monitor is intended as an aid. It is not a substitute for proper adult supervision, and should not be used as such. The VM819 is largely a disappointment in our testing. It didn't do much well, and compared to the competition, it struggled to provide good video or sound. Overall, we think there are better options with more useful features. While we understand that the price is a draw for some parents, we caution that even if you save money, we don't think the frustration of using it is worth the dollars you save. What Other Video Monitor Should You Consider? In April 2022, VTech released an upgrade to VM819 with the VTech VM923 which has similar features except with the addition of remote pan, tilt, and zoom capability in the VM923. VM819 doesn’t have remote PTZ and is also referred to as fixed-camera monitor. If you have two baby units, see Change different views - Single-camto switch between cameras to ensure images are displayed for both.

Philips AVENT DECT.The Philips AVENT SED630 was on our list for a few years but was discontinued a couple of years ago. Philips DECT only sells audio baby monitors at this point.A baby monitor will help you identify false alarms without having to run up and down the stairs eighteen times a day. You can simply open the app to visually assess whether your baby is in need of your attention. I also don’t like the small screen which doesn’t even have high resolution. As someone who enjoys the PTZ feature in monitors, I was disappointed that this model doesn’t allow remote adjusting of the camera to face different angles.VTech recommends VTech RM7764HD and RM5764HD as alternative models with remote PTZ capability. VTech has a wide range of baby monitors, so whether you are a budget-conscious shopper, or like a few bells and whistles, or are tech-savvy, you will certainly find a Vtech baby monitor that will meet your needs. Vtech baby monitors range from audio-only to non-wifi monitors with audio and video, and even wifi-based monitors.

There is a blinking light on the camera and parent device, which is bothersome for some when trying to sleep. Limited features and low-quality screen You don’t need to worry about not being able to see baby when it’s dark either – the automatic infrared night vision switches on as soon as low-light conditions are detected. And if they become unsettled through the night, the two-way communication helps you to soothe them without completely waking them up.Soothing sounds and lullabies - giving you the ability to play songs or soothing sounds such as white noise, womb sounds etc. right from the monitor to settle your restless baby. Of all home appliances, a baby monitor might just be one of those that should be turned off at irregular periods. This is because of how important they are to people with infants.

A few smart baby monitors have built-in temperature or humidity sensors. If you plan on analyzing your baby’s sleep patterns, these sensors could provide a useful depth of information. With this information, you could determine that your baby sleeps better when humidity levels are higher or temperature is lower. Sleep Analytics It's also equipped with night vision, auto-light sensitivity adjustment, and a 135° wide-angle lens. You've got two-way audio, as well as a bank of built-in lullabies, and the Cubo can detect a baby's temperature and the level of humidity in the air. Most smart baby monitor apps will provide analytics via a mobile app. Some will go more in-depth than others. Sleep analytics can allow you to spot patterns and optimize your baby’s sleep based on these patterns. Some apps will provide you with personalized tips to improve your baby’s sleep, based on the data they’ve collected. Expandable or NotKeep an eye on your baby from anywhere in your home with this Vtech Safe and Sound Video Baby Monitor. They can also come with features specifically tailored towards looking after a baby, including room temperature estimates, or voice control through virtual assistants that can allow you to play a lullaby or speak to your baby through your smart speaker. On advanced systems, the Nanit Pro, for example, you can even watch two cameras on one screen at the same time. Visual indicators let you know when noise is detected, and the temperature sensor means you can make sure their room isn’t too hot or too cold. One of the best things about this device is the ability to live stream on your smart device and the entirely separate monitor, which, if you're not a fan of using your phone or tablet in this way, will make all the difference. VTech VM819 camera can be mounted on a tabletop or the wall, and the angle can be adjusted manually. However, the angle adjustment is limited in terms of range, and the view angle is also limited, which makes this monitor less ideal if you desire whole room viewing. You have to move the camera really far if for you to see around the baby’s crib or their bed. Blinking light

Moving onto areas you might expect corners to be cut, you’ll still find 2-way talk, lullabies, and the option to adjust your VOX setting so the screen only wakes up and alerts you (a parent likely also in need of sleep) if needed. Finally a two camera option is available for less than some of the one camera devices elsewhere on this list. How we test cameras This camera has an average emission of 0.22V/m in our tests, which is relatively low and one of the lowest in the test group. Should You Buy the VTech VM819? If you set Sound activation on, your VTech baby monitor parent unit will light up whenever it detects a sound at the set sensitivity level. Activate or Deactivate Sound Activation You can place the baby unit on the tabletop or mount it on the wall, and the angle can be adjusted a little bit manually. The Vtech VM819 is a fantastic option if you are looking for a simple video baby monitor at low pricing that you can take on trips or to your grandpas. Specs of VM819: Product Dimensions
