The rules and instructions for Simpsons Clue are identical to the original game rules. The game begins with the players randomly determining who the killer is, what weapon they used is, and what location they were in when they committed the murder.

Springfield is in shambles. Chief Wiggum suspects foul play when he finds wealthy industrialist Charles Montgomery Burns dead. In a typical display of incompetence, Wiggum rounds up six likely suspects: Homer, Marge, Bart , Lisa , Krusty the Clown and Waylon Smithers, Jr.. He gives them 24 hours to solve the crime through a real life game of Clue. The fingered suspects must dress-up as their favorite Clue game character to solve the mystery.
