About this deal

This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. I'll get to my pacing rage in a little bit) and I really felt I was with the loyalist characters every step of the way as far heartache and betrayal was concerned.

It's a bad time to be a good guy in the Imperium and the author brings this to life very well as the noose tightens and the plot is made clear. This is the final book in the opening trilogy of the Horus Heresy, following Horus Rising by Dan Abnett and False Gods by Graham McNeill. Tarvitz then arrives and warns them of their imminent betrayal, tasking Lucius with transmitting a warning to the Sons of Horus and Death Guard while he goes to warn the World Eaters. I gave the previous two books very favourable reviews, and I wanted to like this one - I really did!

On the eve of victory, the Emperor leaves the front lines, entrusting the great crusade to his favorite son, Horus.

As far as books go it did a solid job of wrapping everything up relating to Horus beginning the Heresy and falling. If you fail to comply with this obligation, we may have a right of action against you for compensation. Cassar realizes the truth after they ride out the virus strike and firestorm and attacks Turnet, pleading with Aruken to help him, but his insistence that the Emperor is a god alienates Aruken who does not believe and chooses ambition over friendship, shooting Cassar dead. They focused more on the corruption and seduction of chaos, even amongst the mighty space marines, but this is a more predictable affair, with a little less philosophy, but balanced with a lot more action. Whereas in the first two books, the thrill came from the revelations outside of battle as much as they came from the gunfights, in Galaxy in Flames it is all about the conflict.Unlike the previous two novels, this one features less social interaction on the ship, The Vengeful Spirit, and more battle on the planet of Istvaan III. I modelled him no other weapons other than his force staff to try give the feel his powers are what he has come to rely upon. Ben Counter brings the opening trilogy of this epic new series to explosive life as the Horus Heresy begins!

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This makes the inevitable twist that much more satisfying/horrific and means I want to further explore these characters in other books.Having recovered from his grievous injuries, Warmaster Horus leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Istvaan III. Remove every single cliché from this book and you'll be ruthlessly exposed to the cold winds of poor inspiration. A deceitful, murderous tyrant with few redeeming qualities, who is now an excellent villain, but hey, this all went way too quickly. Horus commits the Sons of Horus under Serghar Targost and Luc Sedirae to the battle while sending Ezekyle Abaddon and Horus Aximand to confront their former Mournival brothers Loken and Torgaddon. Admittedly, it was a tad easier to believe given the fact that they were being slaughtered, but I expected a bit more heartache from some of them rather than instant acceptance.

However over the course of the three books things start to change, and I was quite impressed that other points of view on the topic appeared. Counter tells us about all these horrifying and heartbreaking moments with the other legions without showing us.Counter has managed to create an enthralling tale with an epic conclusion, and whilst his writing is flawed in places, he still manages to create a compelling enough story to win over fans who enjoyed the first two novels. But it is also a story of heroism, bravery, and loyalty as the last of the Loyalist members of those soon to be infamous legions, fight for their Emperor and the ideals that they believe in. Though the rebels are swiftly crushed, Horus' treachery is finally revealed when the planet is razed by virus bombs and Space Marines turn on their battle brothers in the most bitter struggle imaginable. Qruze and Maggard fight but are evenly matched until Sindermann picks up Maggard's dropped pistol and shoots him in the side, allowing Qruze to finish him off.
