About this deal

The Chronicles of Narnia is an epic fantasy series that has won children, adults, and scholars’ hearts and minds. Your kids will love following Charlie on his adventures, and they’ll be laughing the whole way through. This book is perfect for kids with a sweet tooth, as it will leave them longing for more chocolate! It’s also a great way to teach kids about Willpower and determination. 18: A Wrinkle in Time One of the early feminist triumphs, The Yellow Wallpaper is the famous short story chronicling the slow breakdown of a woman imprisoned in a room with (spoiler alert) yellow wallpaper—presumably to cure her “temporary nervous depression.” Highly recommended, especially since it’s only a 10-minute read. Okay, okay—I know this one is stereotypical, but as a teen, I loved Holden’s sarcastic, dry demeanor and his biting commentary. I can remember laughing out loud in the library at his voice in the novel. Grumbling about girls, phonies, school, teachers—all of this still holds true today. Adolescence and alienation tend to go hand-in-hand, and I don’t think teens will ever grow weary of Holden Caulfield.

Join Mole, Rat, Badger, and the rich and generous Toad on their adventures in The Wind in the Willows! These lessons will stay with your child long after they finish the book and can apply in their own lives. So give your child a book that will both entertain and educate. 22: Little PrinceA Bear Called Paddington is one of the most beloved children’s books. Initially published in 1958, the book tells the story of a young bear from Peru found by an English family on Christmas Eve. This book follows the story of four sisters – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – growing up during the American Civil War. Classic children’s novels need that push for their target demographic to invest and engage with the content. For example, The Chronicles of Narnia ’s first novel The Lion , t he Witch , and the Wardrobe uses fantasy tropes in a real-world setting to highlight the fantasticism of Narnia and its many mythical creatures.

Classic children’s books encapsulate multitudes of attributes that coincide with creating a classic book. However, those attributes do not entirely reveal what makes classic children’s books timeless pieces of literature. In fact, they rarely scrape the surface of such information. It’s a heart-warming tale of friendship, innocence, and unconditional love that will make you laugh and cry. But when the boy decides to take him to the woods, where all old things go, it looks like this might be the end for our little velveteen bunny. Many of these books have been loved by generations of readers, and we hope your family will enjoy them. Realism makes a classic children’s book timeless because mundaneness in a fantasy world is rare. It rides the same wave as taking a break during a long work week, as it is a sought-after notion when things become overwhelming. Better yet, sign up to receive the newsletter and be the first to know about our updates. While many classic children’s novels contain some form of fantasy, realism is always present at one point.
