About this deal

Place the cured, washed and dried shallot into a saucepan and cover with cooking oil and heat until the shallots become crispy and golden, whisking now and again to ensure they don’t stick to the bottom of the pan or burn, and they stay individual. Some mention that it's a great product, while others say that the bottom layer was smashed to smithereens. There are a number of fillings that could go into them – Mexican Guacamole and Anchoïade are excellent. Rahms Croustades are sold around the world and are renowned for their quality, crispy texture and versatility. In 2021, Luke from JÖRO, Sheffield asked us to produce first a single, a double and finally a quadruple croustade iron. It's not a new idea, basic croustade irons have been used for years in Scandinavia making traditional sweet and savoury batter shells. The croustades are made in mini tartlet tins, which are available in trays of 12; what they are essentially are croutons made into tartlet cases. Wheatflour, Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat, Milk, Fat, Egg, Reconstituted Skimmed Milk Powder, Salt, Cream.Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F Fill cups with mixture and sprinkle with minced parsley and parmesan cheese of desired. Cold stuffing: The Croustades will keep crispy if you grease them with melted butter or place the stuffing on top of a piece of lettuce.

In a separate bowl, mix the goat’s cheese with two tablespoons of Greek yogurt, then spoon into a piping bag. Food and Drink: Naturally, this is where JÖRO really shines, with a choice of five-, eight- or 10-course tasting menus that combine Nordic and Asian flavour profiles with aplomb. In 2020 we made our first Croustade Iron for Simon Martin at Mana, Manchester, this was very much a one off and was essentially a copy of a traditional iron.

I was was worried about how they will survive in transit but actually only one broken which I think is a small miracle. Mould rotation lets you continuously dip different moulds in batter instead of waiting for the same mould to reheat in hot oil.

Please always read the labels, warnings, and directions provided with the product before using or consuming a product. Line up 30 croustade shells on a baking tray (available from larger supermarkets – we used Rahms) and fill each with 1 tsp cheese and onion mixture. Add the gluten free plain flour, ground almonds, rice flour, xanthan gum and salt into the processor bowl, fit the lid, process on max speed for a few seconds to combine the dry ingredients. Now brush the little bread rounds on both sides with melted butter and then press them into the tins firmly.

Depending on temperature of oil and batter recipe, you might need more than one mould to do mould rotation. Sometimes breakfast the next day after a particularly excellent meal can be a disappointment – not here. This is a very rich tasting and fancy appetizer that can be made in advance that I received in a cooking class.
