About this deal

Mark Levinson's second new flagship separate within the 5000 series is the No. 5302 power amplifier (above), with custom-designed external heat sinks and front panel handles. It feels weird to have a USB-C entry cable and a 3.5mm source end cable, but I am fine with it. It is a relatively new thing these days, so I am happy to see something fresh come around like this. a b Willis, Barry. "Music Man: A Brief Biography of Mark Levinson" (PDF). Daniel Hertz SA. Archived from the original (PDF) on 2015-01-16 . Retrieved 2015-02-05. The No.5805’s sound doesn’t grab the attention as firmly as some rivals, but over time its many charms become obvious. Its presentation is clean, detailed and articulate, while the feature set is admirably broad and useful. If you’re in the market for a premium integrated amplifier then this is one to consider. The Mark Levinson No. 5101 was first teased just over a year ago (above) and is billed as a sleek 3-in-1 companion source for either the No. 5805 or No. 5802 stereo amps in the series. It's essentially a slot-loading SACD player and premium network streamer, with the company's PrecisionLink II DAC inbuilt.

The No. 5909 can swing both ways slightly to the left and right depending on what your rig is composed of. But again, focus on tone and bass/treble qualities, and not power. Power is not needed here and only really helped make the headphone sound smoother overall.Combining audiophile physical compact disc formats with modern high-resolution network streaming capabilities over Ethernet and WiFi, a standalone PrecisionLink II DAC and expansive control features, the Nº 5101 is a unique 3-in-1 solution. Digital Audio

That’s not to say Mark Levinson hasn’t made an effort, though. At every turn, the No. 5909 look, feel and even smell good - maybe not a grand’s-worth of good, but good nevertheless. The headband and the replaceable earpads are leather-covered memory foam; the frame (arms, yokes etc) is anodized aluminium… even the plastic elements of the earcups themselves are upmarket to the touch. Clamping force is just so, and the compact dimensions means no one who can afford the price tag is excluded from No. 5909 ownership. Add in an impeccable standard of build and finish, and it’s hard to suggest these headphones could be any better presented.

Unprecedented Design Architecture

Levinson ran his second company, Cello Ltd., from 1984 to 1998. With Cello, Levinson created high-priced models such as the Audio Palette. [ citation needed] In 1999, Levinson founded Red Rose Music, an audio company with its own New York retail store on Madison Avenue. The business model of Red Rose was to create compact, affordable products with very high-quality sound. [ citation needed] The headband and earcups are kitted out in leather-covered memory foam. (Image credit: TechRadar) Mark Levinson No. 5909: design and features RBH and Focal used them on their models and both were extremely amazing headphones. I suspect that Mark Levinson’s future models will adopt this too and they will secure themselves as a powerhouse headphone company if they keep this up. ANC Yes, there is certainly an audible difference between BT mode and wired mode, but at this point, I am not caring too much these days about that when I am not in critical reviewing week. So these headphones are made from a combination of memory-foam covered in leather (which looks, feels and even smells expensive), anodised aluminium and quite the priciest-feeling plastics ever deployed on a pair of wireless over-ear headphones costing less than a thousand pounds.
