About this deal

CFexpress is the latest standard from the CompactFlash Association. Originally launched in 2017 and using the XQD form-factor, the cards utilized two PCIe 3.0 lanes along with NVMe 1.2 for low latency and overhead. In 2019, the CFexpress 2.0 standard was announced, with an upgraded NVMe 1.3 protocol; two new form factors, “Type A” and “Type C” were announced, with the existing XQD form factor becoming “Type B.” Image via Explora VPG 400– This classification guarantees that a CFexpress card will sustain a write speed of at least 400 MB/s write speeds throughout its capacity without dropping a single frame. One of the standout features of this memory card is its durability. It has been rigorously tested to handle stiffness of 70 N, severe temperatures of up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, X-rays, electrostatic discharges, and UV radiation. Additionally, it can survive drops of up to 15 feet, thanks to its reinforced physical design. The resin body of the card is 5x more impact-resistant than the CFexpress Type A standard, and it provides IP57 dust and water protection, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. We’ve looked in detail at the Type A and Type B CFexpress cards, but there is also a third standard called Type C. You might not have heard about this type of memory card because currently, there are no cameras on the market that support this format. As you can see from the diagram above, CFexpress Type C will theoretically offer maximum speeds that are twice that of Type B.

The vari-angle pivot is very welcome, but you can still tilt the screen if you want to and have it stay on the lens’s optical axis. The EVF, which has the highest resolution currently available, is excellent.
