About this deal

The white scale is just as impressive, with highlights giving pop to the picture; glints of moon- or sun-light off the water, metallic sheen, sweat, everything looks so natural. The only shame is that the original theatrical poster isn’t included here as artwork (it's included in the poster). It might not be regarded by many as an effective a film as its 1975 Steven Spielberg directed predecessor, but there is still plenty of jolts, jumps and shark action.

The first of the summer Blockbusters, way back in 1975, and directed by a young, enthusiastic director who was on the way up his creative curve: Steven Spielberg, but showing a maturity and elegance that belies his age. But when Brody, Hooper, and Quint head out to sea to do so, the trio gets way more than they bargained for. It obviously lacks any real top and bottom end but the musicality doesn’t seem to suffer too much, neither does overall clarity. Just in a streaming experience, I’ve had the worst luck with Peacock 4K streams as they often start out looking great, but for whatever reason after about ten to fifteen minutes it shifts back to SDR 1080p and will stay that way. Some reviews have stated that there has been additional clean up work done on the audio, resulting in a better sound experience than the previous 1080p release. Today it seems that every sub-par movie that has some semblance of an audience can have another two or three installments. Effects are well catered for and the surrounds hold a lot of ambience, be it waves lapping or fires crackling. For fans of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, this long-awaited 4K Ultra HD release has been well worth the wait.

Bass is firm when needed, the dialogue is clean and clear at all times, and Williams’ score benefits well from the added space and lossless fidelity. As good as these extras are (and they’re pretty great, especially for their day), one could still wish for something new. His worries turn to deep concern when a ship blows up off-shore and a killer whale's mauled corpse washes onto the beach. dba Freestar (“Freestar”) for the purposes of placing certain advertising on the site, and Freestar will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes.

the sheer verve it conveys; comedic (Hooper and Quint’s interactions), heart-breaking (Mrs Kinter’s breakdown at Brody), horrific (Quint’s death) and the edge of your seat thrill (underwater filming of unaware bathers).

Because of some of those shooting problems, it has some issues baked into its very source – the underwater scenes look softer than those above the waterline and certain shots have been given a strange hazy look to them. Effects wise, the boat explosion doesn’t pack a punch but it does have some nice dramatic dynamics to it and these slot in alongside the score and dialogue nicely. Will he be proven right at the cost of precious life, or will life go merrily on for Amity's unworried seafarers and beachgoers?
