About this deal

The M5 sounds just like a more expensive microphone, but the actual microphone capsule is not replaceable. You might have some trouble if it breaks. You also don’t have a high-pass switch, nor does the actual mic come with any storage or transport box. They are also superb for piano and other acoustic instruments, as I’ve already mentioned. Something Else? If I had to choose a pair to get for myself, I’d definitely go with the Samson C02’s since they cost about 2/3 of what the M5’s sell for and sound almost identical.

The C02 has a frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz, which accurately reproduces audio with great detail while minimizing low-frequency noise. It features a slight low-end cut up to 100Hz and a slight boost between the 5kHz and the 15kHz mark, which gives it an airy and open sound, and all of this helps instruments to better sit in the mix without the need of as much EQ. In terms of the C02, the frequency response might be a little restrictive for you if you’re using this mic with something like drums. This doesn’t mean that it’s a bad mic, just that it might work better depending on which instrument you use it with. Of course, you may not like the rubber mounts either – this is something you should keep in mind when buying. Final Verdict In a controlled environment, the Condenser mic has the advantage because of the quality of the sound. Their design allows them to produce a smoother response across the entire frequency range. If you don’t care too much about the self-noise level, which isn’t really that high and you will probably never even notice it, then the Neewer NW-410 would be my top recommendation of microphones, along with the LyxPro SDPC-2, simply because you can’t beat the sound quality and extras you get for that price.

The case where they come in is not that great! If you really want to care for the mics and capsules properly you should get a sturdier pelican case. This microphone comes inside an amazing wooden box and inside this box you get the microphone and not just the cardioid capsule but also the Hypercardioid and Omnidirectional ones included. The MXL 606 is an inexpensive microphone that can actually pull its weight, having a PAD and HPF makes it really versatile. The Rode M5 is the industry standard in terms of affordable matched pairs, they are of extreme quality, sound very nice, and should last you forever. Neewer NW-410 Features multiple capsules with different polar patterns! Neewer NW-410 However, the enhanced directionality of the Samson C02s provided enough isolation for my drum kit. That’s why pencil condenser microphones are better than large-diaphragm condenser microphones in these situations.

First of all, as mentioned, with the Behringer C-2 small diaphragm condenser model, you get two microphones, which is a useful setting for quality stereo recording. The aim here was affordability topped with quality and stereo recording possibilities, and the people at Behringer have certainly managed to excel here. These units have been around for some time now, which is definitely not a bad thing. The fact that they are still in production vouches for their quality. It can be a good thing if you want to add a bit of natural depth to a vocal to give it some warmth. If you don’t need the extra bass, just move the mic away from the subject a small distance. You might have to try different positions until you get the sound you want. Some Numbers

Customer Reviews

Although Behringer is famous for making quality high-end equipment, the company is also well-known for offering tempting budget gear. The Behringer C-2 is perhaps one of the best examples of this. The C02 is a pencil microphone just like the Rode M5, meaning that it has a small, cylindrical design that most people use for recording. You don’t only have to rely on this mic for recordings, though. This mic is multi-functional with its sturdy build, solid plating, and low price point to keep record clean sound for your studio projects without breaking the bank. Audio Quality

They are an ideal addition to the smaller or home studio. Giving you an audio performance that is more than acceptable at a very affordable price point. But also with a variety of options for how and where you use them. The difference between this mic and the rest is its pattern, it’s super-cardioid which means that it’s even more directional than a cardioid, even though some of the mics on this list have interchangeable capsules allowing you to use a hyper-cardioid one. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. This microphone has a really good-looking green finish with its brand and model number written in gold on the front. This microphone isn’t as well known as the others on this list, but it’s definitely a good choice to take into consideration.

The build quality is really good, it has an all-metal body and a robust design which should make it last a lifetime. Just like the C-4, it comes with a high-pass filter and a PAD switch and it also has a slight boost at the 1kHz to 8kHz range. Pros

Lastly, the Rode M5 doesn’t come with a PAD or a High-Pass filter, which is actually quite common in small diaphragm condenser microphones in this price range. How does it sound? I previously compared the Rode M5 to the Behringer C-2, where the M5 came out ahead by a mile, but this is not so much the case with the Samson C02 since it’s a much better and more balanced microphone than the Behringer C-2, meaning that it sounds a lot better and closer to what the M5 sounds like. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided.
