About this deal

Although a 21700 lithium-ion battery is recommended, the E4K can also two 16340 (RCR123A) lithium-ion rechargeable batteries or two CR123A lithium metal non rechargeable batteries using the included battery adaptor that makes the batteries compatible, which provides great versatility. The turbo output cannot be accessed when using 16340/CR123A batteries. The new design of the popular headlamp provides dual primary lights; a spotlight and floodlight. The dual primary lights can be used together or independently, achieving the ideal combination of long distance throw and flood beam. In addition, the NU25 hasa red light for map viewing, emergency use, stargazing, wildlife observation and night photography. The second test was done by putting the Nitecore E4K in "HIGH" mode (1050 lumens). The graph is very similar to that of the mode TURBO after the first step-down. Switching ON and OFF is done by the mechanical switch on the SIDE of the flashlight, so momentary activation is not possible. The E4K also features a power indicator light which will flash to notify the user of the battery voltage when the battery is first installed in the torch. For example if the battery is 4.2 V the blue light will flash four times, pause and then flash twice more. The indicator will also show the battery power when pressed once while the torch is off by flashing three times for above 50% power, two times for below 50% power and flash once for below 10 % power.

HOLD – Mode change (light cycles through ULTRA-LOW, LOW, MID, HIGH & TURBO → ULTRA-LOW, LOW, MID, HIGH & TURBO). With the NL2150HPR battery (5,000mAh) included, the E4K is recommended to be powered by 1 x 21700 battery (discharge current over 15A) while compatible with 2 x CR123 / RCR123 batteries. It provides 700 hours ultra long runtime for a consistent usage of 30 days on ULTRALOW. The integrated ATR technology regulates the output of the E4K according to the working condition and ambient environment to maintain the optimal performance. For flashlights that are intended to use on a daily basis (EDC) and for possibly a long period of time, form factor is extremely important.Equipped with 4 x CREE XP-L2 V6 LEDs with a lifespan of 50,000 hours, the NITECORE E4K is able to emit a blazing output of 4,400 lumens from a palm sized body with a max peak beam intensity of 11,100cd and a max throw of 211 meters, ideal for EDC (Everyday Carry), trekking, camping and more. The independently controlled quadruple LEDs are powered by a constant current circuit to provide a durable usage with guaranteed safety. The holster that we find inside the Nitecore E4K box is essential but well made. It is made of fairly soft cordura with a closure tore up. The beam is alluvial in nature, however allowing a good one medium distance lighting. To the eye I do not see any significant PWM in any of the 5 modes. The beginning of the spill from the walk is adjacent to the feet.

The Runtimes were done indoors with an ambient temperature of around 18 °C using the 5000 mAh Nitecore 21700 battery in equipment. There’s a single switch, on the head. It’s an indicating e-switch. I like that it’s bigger than most switches like this. There’s a silicone cover. Here’s a runtime on Turbo. Not that I want the light to cheat for specs, but I’d really like for the initial output to hold on just a little bit longer. At startup, it’s practically 5000 lumens! At… maybe 26 seconds, it’s around 4400 lumens. Then it falls right off. Mode spacing appears to be progressively brighter to the eye and the modes are well spaced enough to be able to know which mode one is currently in. With that in mind, TLR tend to view mode spacing as battery life indicators (amount of runtime left) rather than the specific output (lumens).
