The book does a good job of showing how anger can build and how easily it can build too much but then is gone quite quickly. Featuring non-gendered characters and avoiding stereotypical associations of colour and emotion, each book introduces the child to the feelings raised by one emotion.

In any case, "don't-make-wavers" are generally people who predicate their whole lives and personalities on being "nice guys" and on being universally liked. Suffice it here to say that the need to be universally liked, to ruffle no one's feelings, serves as an enormous block to the natural free feel and flow of anger.

This light-hearted picture book is a welcome addition to the Simon and Casper series, and touches on some common issues experienced by many toddlers, such as jealousy, unfairness and sibling rivalry. Since being universally loved is seen as the only way to be safe in this world, anger -- especially anger that causes retaliation by the other fellow -- is of course felt as a terrible threat. The hardback book which is a bit wider than A4 in size and square in shape, is filled with lots of thick and glossy pages that are filled with just a little text and some very fun but simple illustrations. It is meant for human beings who have ordinary emotional responses and the need to express them freely.
