About this deal

They might be somewhere in your city. Guys with piercings and slightly pronounced canines, wearing sneakers. They might be sitting right-next to you at a café in the middle of the night. Elsie’s a vampire and Jimmy’s a werewolf and they’re girlfriend and boyfriend and hilarity ensues and waffle waffle… Oct 28 NBA Star Rui Hachimura Gets Animated and Possibly Saves the World in New Crayon Shin-chan Episode I found the book enjoyable, but the writing was more stilted and herky-jerky than I like. It felt more like a direct translation rather than a cleaned up interpretation of the text. It made it hard for me to follow the very paper-thin plot. In a way, this book felt more like a set up for the universe and the characters with several sex scenes mixed in rather than a cohesive story. It's okay, but I don't feel like I need to read the next volume to find out more.

En was adorable! So full of life and emotion, despite struggling a bit with not being human anymore. I can see why all the older vampires would like him. You can't help but be charmed by him, and he's not even trying. So first things first: I know this is titled as a webcomic, but I think this might not be the right description for “Fangs”. This was no story with a central theme but rather little snippets of Elsie’s and Jimmy’s story that starts when they meet in a bar. Because of this the pacing is pretty fast and it seems like they jump right into their relationship and push the “fast forward” button instead of taking it slow. So I think “sequential art” might be the most accurate description here and I noticed that a lot of reviewers already put it in that genre which is great! =)En and Ichii's relationship also could have been developed more. The latter chooses to be the former's guardian right off the bat, but the romantic framing isn't strong enough to want to root for them. I also didn't like Ichii taking advantage of En at several moments throughout this volume. Balibally's established dynamic is currently the driving force of these two being together, rather than their growing feelings for each other. They can grow as a couple. However, their first time threw me off because it's related to what I discussed earlier and in a status update. There are some explicit steamy scenes. Trigger warning for the first being maybe kinda dubcon (En kept telling him to wait, slow down, etc. but Ichii didn't, and then En liked it). This said, I found this on tapas and was immediately intrigued. I mean a relationship between a vampire and a werewolf? It sounded interesting and I decided to investigate. Oct 25 Yearning Teens, Frustrated Romance, Pretty Skies — Is There Anything Else to Makoto Shinkai?

I really enjoyed this first volume and am interested in seeing where it goes from here, particularly with the intrigue of the last chapter and what En and Ichii's role in FANGS will end up being. The artwork was well done, the story was easy to follow, and while it has familiar elements of supernatural mature romances, I liked the intrigue of following the different characters here. This is a manga that would be great for people who love steamy Yaoi and paranormal mystery. As for me, I liked it but didn't love it. So I'm going to give this... The story was weak for me. This volume felt like a prologue to a bigger story with little establishing action beyond En getting turned and him declaring his partnership with Ichii. Balibally teases their audience with Ichii's mysterious past and a secret he's keeping, but the pull isn't strong enough when the volume centers around meeting side characters, how En reacts to them, and two sex scenes. En's framing also made me uncomfortable at times. I understand age gaps have existed in vampiric love stories before, but the constant reinforcing of En as a "virgin" and a "baby" feels like infantilization and reminds me of fanservice media I've seen/been exposed to with women getting the same treatment. I'm getting past the point where characters are framed as desirable because of their youth. I think supernatural romances deserve more than that. I loved good guy Ichii! For some reason, I thought Ichii would kinda be a jerk, but he was actually really sweet, trying his best to be a good guardian to En, and a good friend to Sugi. There was also something about how vampires who work for the Fangs organization (Ichii being one of them) are pretty much volunteers. I loved this graphic novel with its beautiful art, sexy vampires, unique characters, touching and interesting relationships, exploration of vampirism, and sweet blossoming romance!Anyone who likes graphic novels or manga, a glamorous but sometimes sad take on vampires, mlm romance and sex, sweet and playful romance, a bit of humor, beautiful art, and characters with depth. There's such a sweet romantic relationship starting between En and Ichii! A newbie vamp, and a mentor who actually cares. I loved the banter and playfulness between them. The relationship has elements of tropes that bother me in some BL’s. At times, Iichi feels a bit too pushy. The sex scenes felt like he was moving faster than En wanted him to and there’s talk about him using his “charm” to make it “better” for En, which wasn’t great. En later calls him out on it but I don’t necessarily feel as though that was quite remedied. Add to that, you have the knowledge that Iichi is so much older than En and attracted to him bc he’s emotional and youthful. I may be biased considering I love both vampires and boys-love stories, and I'll admit the idea of a supernatural welfare organization is hardly a new concept in manga, but "Fangs" was a delight to read. I found the main couple to be particularly sweet and Iespecially enjoyed the wide range of different vampiresthe readers meet. Fangs is a short graphic novel following the relationship/romance between a vampire and a werewolf. It is meant to be humorous and fairly light hearted.
