About this deal

The gold may not have been Malina’s doing or taste but she’s a symbol and she’s made herself a target in more ways than one.

Gleam’ picks up where ‘Glint’ left off but we learn so much more about the characters and Auren’s background. In every scene he was in, I just wanted him to die a painful death and he was in so many scenes and each scene with him got worse. I'm glad you're choosing you," he says quietly, and my lips part, like I want to swallow the rumble of his cadence. We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service for goods which weight less then 2kg, all other goods will be delivered by a Courier. She treats everyone, from her lover, to her guards, to all the citizens she's responsible for, like absolute trash.I love it when the characters look like they could kill you, will actually kill you, but are also cinnamon rolls.

Having that ripped away from her, even if it was at her own doing, has been a bit of an adjustment and I really liked seeing Lu in particular, continue to interact with her. Those feelings were delicate, and so the sense of deep betrayal she felt (though overblown) was completely understandable when she discovered he'd withheld information and she found herself in the web of another king. She deals with what life gives her while holding her head high and secretly plotting to get herself out of it and into a better life. Glint didn't offer that much action, but a lot of character's development and insight both for Auren and the readers.Which of course does make the ending finally do something but it's been THREE books and so many pages of this and way too late to actually mean anything. The worst part of this for me is that some parts ARE actually really sick- I love Auren's magic and the way it works.

I'm also glad that the author didn't decide to rush Auren into leaving Midas (though I was pretty much mad early on of her blind loyalty). For him to then talk to her like he's directing the porno she's in, and for her to like it, felt really wrong because it's too much like how she was treated before (where she also thought she liked it). This series is truly perfect for hating on characters honestly, like the rage I've felt for certain beings is unlike anything else I've felt in other novels. Really loving this series, but I’ve dropped a star for this book for a few nitpicks… I did skim over a bit that felt to drag/be boring and I would’ve liked more Slade and Auren….In the second book she realized that Midas was not as nice and perfect as she thought he was, but being back with him after spending time with the Fourth's soldiers made Auren see just how toxic and cruel Midas really is. Let me start by saying that I love a good romance (especially fantasy) and I'm familiar with the great stories and the overused tropes. They're both women who have been used by Midas, but they're highly different in the choices they make to break free of him. Their slow-burn romance and the building of all that sexual tension were so so so good to read (and OMG, chapters 29-30 were a spicy perfection). That whole, 'I'm going to play the obedient pet and secretly plot my way out' was BS - she simply tells everyone to f*ck off and then is surprised when there are consequences.
