About this deal

There is some evidence that the Welsh practised distillation as early as the fourth century. Allegedly, Reaullt Hir distilled on Bardsey Island around this time. The early drink was distilled from barley, yeast and honey.

Penderyn is a Welsh distillery and whisky brand, known for its award-winning single malt whiskies. The Penderyn distillery is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, in the historic village of Penderyn. We are a working distillery and so, for operational reasons, we cannot guarantee that all or any of our plant will be working at the time of your visit. However, you may be able to see into the still and mash tun, which can't be done when we are distilling. The profitability of buying or selling a Penderyn whisky bottle can be impacted by several factors: Whisky cask investment is a unique venture that can be profitable, yet it necessitates a deep understanding and acceptance of the associated risks. Penderyn is a single malt whisky produced in several expressions, e.g. Madeira Finish, Peated, Sherrywood and Portwood. The distillery also produces the Dragon range comprising Legend (Madeira finish), Myth (Bourbon finish) and Celt (Peated).

Investing in a cask of Penderyn offers a unique opportunity that could potentially yield profits, albeit with its inherent set of risks and complexities. Here's a detailed examination of various facets to consider:Penderyn has won numerous awards for its whiskies, including Gold medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, and the World Whisky Awards. Wales is part of the United Kingdom and home to the native people of the British Isles. Welsh national identity emerged among the Celtic Britons after the Roman withdrawal in the 5th century. In this country, rich in myth and legend, the people have a quiet power and passion and many still speak the ancient Welsh language.

Appearance: Notably cloudy and oily, it’s the colour of dusty rose gold and less leggy than the others. The Welsh Whisky Company was founded in 1998 and the first spirit ran from the stills of the Penderyn Distillery in September of 2000. The locality is rather beautiful, sitting in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The first whisky was launched on St David’s Day, 1st March 2004. The wash is brought in from S A Brain & Co, a beer brewer. Penderyn make award-winning whiskies and spirits at their distillery in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. The area has spectacular mountain scenery, open moorland, farmland and valleys containing fast-flowing streams, rivers and waterfalls. Please note that tours start promptly. If you arrive late we will do what we can to accommodate, but you may miss part of the tour

Vintage:

Personal Affinity: Your own tastes and the thematic alignment of your collection should steer your decision. Delving into the specifics of cask storage—including costs, conditions, and regulatory compliance—is crucial to ensure optimal maturation conditions.

In the interests of safety, the use of mobile phones, cameras and other electrical equipment is prohibited in the production area; anyone refusing to comply with these rules will be asked to leave the tour. The price of a Penderyn whisky is swayed by market demand and supply, influenced by numerous factors including rarity, age, branding, economic conditions, and consumer preferences, all of which are unpredictable. Even in the near future, market behavior can be capricious. Palate: The flavors are unsurprisingly dominated by fruit but in a more dessert minded way. Strawberries, honeydew, biscuits and clotted cream mingle with a kind of acerbic smoke character. A little saline character would be nice to finesse out a bit more fruit through the slightly punishing smoke character. The body is a bit thin and there’s not much length to it.A limited number of casks are available at any one time, and are offered on a first come, first served basis. This is a wonderful way to secure your personal supply of our award-winning whisky, and furthermore, a cask could be a fine gift to mark a very special occasion. There’s a bit of alcohol burn and some slightly dusty wood tannins but overall a vast improvement from the Peated expression. Layers of delicate fruits, marzipan and lightly sweet breads with some baking spices for character make this enjoyable through the last. Specific Bottle Variation: Numerous releases of Penderyn whisky have occurred over the years. The specific release to which a bottle belongs greatly impacts its value. Additionally, the condition of the bottle, the labeling, and the level of fill are crucial factors in determining its worth. Our unique copper stills are charged with a fermented barley 'wash'. This is distilled to produce a flavourful spirit of extraordinary strength and purity which is married with water from the Brecon Beacons before maturing in the finest ex-bourbon casks.
