The solution is to provide a similar air cap for the cold water. This would act in a similar way to the hot, and smoothed or damps out the surges. The non return valve fitted on the wall inlet should keep the system pressure up, even with a pin hole in the delivery hose. Historically, some submersible water pumps were notoriously reluctant to prime and, when initially submerged, needed to be shaken to expel air and allow the pump’s impeller to 'get a grip’ on the water. OK if an Aquaroll-type external water container was being used, but not if the pump was in a motorhome’s fresh-water tank. Reich advertise “a patented ventilation system which is integrated into many of our pumps and provides immediate output after immersing into the tank”, and your Reisch pump should have that feature ad not suffer from priming problems.

So it has worked fine for a year, works fine when I test, but since mid winter blows fuse for user, with no changes/alterations to the system?? Confused. Could there be anything else I should ask the user? I had initially suggested switch pump off at caravan door each use, but later said perhaps leave on as that could affect something. It is also apparent the pump takes a long time to turn off after the tap has been closed, which Audiorob rightly points to the pressure switch adjustment needing attention.Does anyone have any other suggestions of likely cause or steps I could follow to diagnose the problem more accurately. I’m quite surprised that Adria would have fitted to a 2017 motorhome a water system that includes an ‘old tech’ Whale pressure switch. The whale pump similar to most submersible pumps rely on water flow through the body of the pump to cool the motor and to keep the shaft seal in good condition. If the water flow stops and the pump continues to run for more than about a 10 seconds, the motor can begin to heat up which can distort the plastic surrounding it and the shaft seals. Ultimately water can enter the motor housing, and that will adversely affect the motor, causing it to draw more current, and prematurely fail. Our collections by our couriers are happening as usual. As it stands, delivery times are not being affected too much. Please be aware though that Royal Mail and other couriers are sometimes prioritising essential items so please bear with us if your delivery takes slightly longer than expected.

But I took particular care to drain the system of water using a Floe draindown attachment and also driving the vehicle around with the drain valves open for a while to release any dregs of fluid. Now as it's a pressure system which should cut out once the required pressure is achieved I could only assume there was a leak somewhere.

I can only assume that something else happened when the surge damper was fitted, perhaps a pipe was rerouted that prevented it from vibrating against a wooden panel, or something like that. I've just taken the connector apart and looked at the hose and cable inside and it looks perfectly fine with no sign of water damage to the interior and no sign of hose deterioration. I did notice that the hose is an interference fit on a spigot and that there was a 'rim' of some form of colourless dried adhesive around the hose end where it abuts the connector. Needless to say that adhesive has gone now as I disturbed it, but there was no sign of a leak past it.
